Question Automatic Car for around 4.5 lacs in Karachi

    Hello everyone,

I am not new to pakwheels. I come here all the time whenever i want to look up something regarding cars or to check the prices, but i have just created an account to post and get some advice. I am finally buying a car. I don't know much about cars and don't know how to drive. I need a car to go to work and for other things. My range is 400k to 480k and I would love to buy a car that has:

    - Automatic Transmission (open to any good suggestions in manual also)
    - Model not lesser than 2000-2002.
    - Good fuel economy. My total travel to work daily will be around 25km (Going and coming back).
    - Easy to learn driving on as I don't know how to drive (i will keep a driver for 1st month who will teach me and sit with me when i drive).
    - Shouldn't give any problems. I will get it serviced every month, but i cant afford a problem prone car.
    - 4 Doors
    - AC must not give any problems.
    - Should have good build quality.

I have looked around and found some options:

    - Alto Japanese 2002-3
    - Coure Automatic 2003-4
    - Toyota Duet 1999-2000 (I cant find much info about this car, but any advice would be greatly appreciated).

I have also read that automatic cars don't work good on CNG so this should be kept in consideration. I wouldn't get in line for cng if it is not available easily. I have no problem in running it on petrol when cng is not available and my car has around 12-13kmpl or more mileage.

For a learner Mehran is the best car, its easy to drive and fix if u do something during learning, You don't have much options in Auto in this range, but in Auto Jdm Alto will be the best buy

The options you highlighted are the only options in your budget, let me address each of them individually

    - Alto Japanese 2002-3 - This is the best fit in your budget considering the body shape is same as local alto thus cheaper parts availability (during learning phase you will be hitting things for sure), fully loaded with all the goodies and really good fuel average considering it is 660 the car will give you approx 13-14 km / liter if tuned properly

    - Coure Automatic 2003-4 - Cuore is very bad on petrol, it won't give you above 8-9 km / liter and CNG is hard to find nowadays, Its AC works better than Alto 660's however Cuore is cheapest on maintenance considering its local and non efi thus everything is readily available and comparatively cheaper.
    - Toyota Duet 1999-2000 - Its old, body parts are hard to find, shares engine with vitz (1000cc) so engine parts are available but I won't recommend it considering its very old and not a good option for a first timer, it'll give you issues.

    - If Manual is not an issue for you then try going for Mehran as someone stated its the best option for a first timer
    - If you can manage 2 door then you might get a 2006 Mira for around 5 lac which will give you fuel average of 15-16 km / liter

Thank you so much for your suggestions. Can i put CNG in Japanese alto? I have read that it wont support cng. So considering this I might go for a automatic cuore. Can you guys recommend any good place like a dealer or something in Karachi to buy used cars?

You can install CNG however with a 660cc engine on CNG won't take the load of 4 Adults with AC on, the car will barely move.

Vitz and Duet have different engines Duet has an inline 3 EJ-VE while Vitz has the inline 4 1SZ-FE but still parts for Duets engine are available
