Default Need Help - buying my first 4x4

    Hey friends,

I am looking to buy a 4x4 should be "hardtop". Something which can handle AC and can also be used as a daily runner. I am more interested in a 3 door version as i don't really have a large family and i'll be using this car for work. I do have two sedans at home so i might let one of them go if this 4x4 experiment worksout.

Since it is an experiment for me as i have never ever ever owned a 4x4/Suv i am not looking to spend too much money into it.

So the budget is somewhere around 6-7 lacs.

I am interested in 3 door versions of

    LC FJ70 or newer (lol)
    Pajero 2nd gen

I find KIA sportage to be very attractive because of the price tag , the ones mostly converted to Petrol.

I need opinions regarding the selection of vehicle and things i should be cautious about. Not really a diesel expert so i have no clue what to look/hear for. i might just buy the shiniest of all....

Anyone selling any of the above jeeps can contact me...

    Regards

Budget is less for clean 70 or 2nd pajero. 70 series prices are sky high these days 0.9M-1.4M and 2nd gen pajero 0.8-1.5M and i am talking about neat and clean cars not the ones with body changed or swapped up with something crazy. In this budget you can get 1st gen pajero in mint condition or FJ 40.

FJ40 is not an option and i have heard crazy stories about 1st gen pajero.

Do you think there is chance of getting something decent in 8-8.50 range.

Wan't to stay away from body swapped jeeps.

one can get 2000 model 3rd gen in 15 and 2002-6 in 20- 28 how come these second gens cost 12-15 now? its because these guys are AHOLES investors and greedy people, all of them bought these for 6-8.5 and have artificially increased the price.... you just have to find a seller who is stuck with a vehicle for over a year.. thats the guy who will sell one...

Only a scratchless mmc import dewan maintained 1st owner vehicle is worth 15 and such vehicle is non existent...

Get me a 2000 model in 15, jeeps have so many frauds these days chasis change body change engine swapped and so many complications and those coffin on wheels can be bought for 4-5 lakhs. @OP if you want a tension free ride in this budget then you may buy 1987-1991 Pajero or Toyota Land Cruiser 1982-1988 FJ40 or BJ60. If you want to buy 70 then you should have atleast 1M and same is for pajero. my neighbour bought 1994 model Pajero 5 door 2.5L intercooler turbo black colour good condition car isb reg for 1.24M. Pajero is good for comfort and family oriented suv but TLC has a renown history in offroad.

since when 2.5 litre pajero gets sold for 12 lacs, do tell me your neighbour is not a 4x4 person and suv was his new hobby. Secondly read the last line of my post. check ads at pakwheels you will find some

    Exclamation Browse 4x4 Clubs/Offroaders/SUV Forum

if not done already, thoroughly browse through 4X4 Clubs / Off Roaders / SUV where your question is regularly asked and answered e.g. https://www.pakwheels.com/forums/4x4...4x4-educate-me.

1st 4x4 experience is usually tricky especially if you have owned trouble free petrol sedans before and do not like workshops.

It would be a challenge to find something decent and trouble free in your budget and your realistic options seem to be TLC 60 series and Pajero 1st Gen (unless your ok with Suzukis). You can get a 2nd Gen Pajero or maybe newer Toyotas in 0.7mil but 90% chances are it will be a nightmare.

would again suggest, before any decision thoroughly browse 4X4 Clubs / Off Roaders / SUV
    Best of Luck !
if you get off your ride and don't look back at it, you have bought the wrong one !
