Default Needs an advice to change my Car

    Dear Experts,

I have Alto 2006 model that i want to sale and buy another car preferably within 1000 cc

The major problem for me is FUEL CONSUMPTION of Alto's engine, i noticed it 8-10 Km/L (within city). With CNG its mileage is superb but CNG is scarce in PK. Being old carburetor technology it would be definitely less efficient than new technology (EFI etc.) engines.

I saw Suzuki Wagon R, the dealer told that its K-series engine and has millage of 16 Km/L (within city).
    Its Price is 1089,000 + 18000 = 1,117,000 + Registration
at Pakwheel cars comparison the only major technical difference in Cultus and Wagon R is of power staring, Automatic windows
In market imported used cars are also available in less than this price range but i am afraid of used cars as i can not afford spending time in workshops or to search part.

I am confused and need sincere advice.

I started this new thread as i was unable to find complete information in this respect

    wagon r

    pros:

    1. powerful, economical engine
    2. better a/c
    3. power steering
    4. more spacious
    5. more ride height(easier to navigate through traffic)
    6. better interior
    7. newer chassis design(safer)
    8. better sound system
    9. better ride quality(silent engine, more comfortable on rough roads due to ride height)

    cons:

    1. more ride height(no more handbrake turns like u can do on a cultus but felt more stable than cultus above 120 in swerving between lanes)
    2. parts are readily available but more expensive than cultus
    3. low resale(because its new in market but it'll increase, after all its a p.s. product)
    4. looks (you either love it or hate it, i love it though)

    cultus

    pros:

    1. lower ride height(sporty ride but doesn't feel as stable at speeds above 120).
    2. engine is alright but consumes more fuel and its 1980's technology. i'd rather go with modern one if i'm spending one million
    3. sells like hot cake.
    4. looks are loved all across pakistan
    5. cheap parts

    cons:

    1. interior is ughh, even charade(no disrespect to charade owners, but both cars come from same era so) has better interior.
    2. more engine, road noise
    3. older chassis design, steering comes straight at your chest in case of front end crash.
    4. no power steering(fine for me though.)

i hope i did an unbiased comparison.

Cultus is ruling the local market and no matter how much "shashkay" WagonR has (if any), it can't match the liking level the masses have for Cultus.
I have kept and driven several models of Cultus in the past and it is a good car for Pakistani roads, has easy and cheap maintenance and the Euro2 one has good fuel average, not too high but acceptable.

wagon r has k series engine, k10 3 cylinder. being almost 2 decade newer design than the g series(cultus') it is more silent, smooth, powerful and fuel efficient. also it doesn't require "tune up" as frequently, only minor adjustments after long periods.

Since your budget is 10 lacs so i would suggest you to buy the newly launched Faw V2. Have heard several reviews about the car. Its economical in terms of fuel average as well as it is a 1300cc car with a euro 4 engine. Since the brakes are concernes it has ABS and EBD. Way better than the other locally manufactured cars. Front driver and passenger airbags. goodpaint quality and a complete package for you. If only you dont have to sell the car after some time as resale will remain a problem
Talking of its services it has 3S services all around Pakistan and my uncle was one of them until we decided to not to have it anymore since he is going to Canada. So its confirmed that Al-Hajj would be working for a long period of time.
    Go for it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you'd ask me, I would take the Faw V2, It's an excellent piece of engineering that is so honest to god it will never let you down, It has all the features you might get from a modern car, So in 1 million, It is the best choice.

Thanks to Danyal Zafar, Muradi, and VTI_% for your comments.

Kindly can you guide about the spare parts of Faw?
When i bought Alto in 2006, Chiverlet was another option and just like Faw it was newly launched and later its was closed down.... resulting in low resale value ............ and other issues like parts....

    So what about Faw?
Atleast I should have a look on it. Infact i want a good car in this budget and Suzuki has shaken my trust, if i would have bought Santro at that time i would be more satisfied i think.

I would suggest you go for a vitz or passo with auction sheet.

    Pros
JDM where they have some standards to meet before rolling out a car from factory
    Parts available all over
    Good resale
    Safety features - Yes
    Accessories - Many
    Fuel comsumption - 13 /km
    No witholding tax

    Cons
Used thus higher down payment if you opt for car financing
    Used thus insurance depreciation

In 2012 we sold a 2010 model alto vxr which was 15,000 driven first owner were us, it was replaced with a 30,000 driven 2007 model 4 grade passo. The car has 48,000 on odo today, full tank with high octane mix costs around 3200 in todays fuel rates and car runs for 400kms with ac in karachi. The car is being used at my home for domestic duties and we didnt regret our decision for a single second in last 30 months

Majorly three options can be narrowed down:
    1. Brand new Wagon R (what ever variant is in your budget) go for it if resale is not an issue
    2. Cultus go for it if revalue is top priority
    3. JDM Car (Vitz or Passo) go for it if comfort and Automatic transmission is required
