    Default Corolla 1981 Suggestions please

    Hi All,

I am planning to buy a corolla 1981. This would be my first car and my first post here. Some questions might be an obvious answer for you all but since I am completely ignorant with matters related to cars I have to ask them. I want to keep it as a daily ride. I have a couple of questions and I hope you all can give me your valuable suggestions. I will add more questions as and when they rise.

It has a stock engine. My options were getting a kabli engine, swapping engine and overhauling the current stock engine. I am thinking I will overhaul the current stock engine since swapping was not recommended in earlier posts here and you never know what really is inside the kabli engines. I would like to add some extra punch for power with the stock engine. Any suggestions?

I like the car lowered but I feel for a daily ride it would not be appropriate or do lowered cars drive fine around the city?

I wanted to have the matt black/grey color finish on the car. I have done some research and know what plasti dip is. I don?t mind having the matt black/grey color permanent on the car. Since I plan to get the car dented and painted I wanted to know if there is an option of having that plastidip look permanently on the car?

    More to come later.

    not an expert but will try to reply;
    1. as its your 1st car, would be better if you go for a later (even smaller) car to start with. a 33 yr old corolla can be risky.
    2. better to overhaul engine, Kabli can be a surprise and then Desi Swap might give more surprises
    3. lowering of daily drive might not be a good idea
    3. platidip on full car doesnt feel like a good idea

if you get off your ride and don't look back at it, you have bought the wrong one !

    Finally a reply. Thanks Waqas.
Actually this particular model has a sort of family heritage and that's the reason why I am so keen to have it. In fact I am getting the car from one of my uncles who has finally decided to let it go.
When I said I wanted to plastidip it, this is what I wanted. The pictures are there for reference.

    Thanks for the good wishes.

Great Deal, go ahead but stay stock and simple. Post some pics.
In case your not buying, you have another interested customer i.e. me

Great choice for a first car because its simple and easy to maintain, parts are available, and almost all roadside mechanics know it very well. Also the 4k motor is really tough. As for the matt black paint, the local term for it is 'suun black'. I personally don't like matt colors because the car never looks clean and all the lines of a car are muddled. I suggest keeping it original factory shade.
But the question is, will it do a burnout?

    Thanks for replying
Original factory shade is white. I wanted it black. Lets see if I decide to paint it black. Will keep everyone posted for sure.
