Question Need suggestions for buying a used car

Sold the last car about 5 months ago to some family people. Getting payment in a few days.

So I've been without a car for the past 5ish months. My last car was a Toyota Corolla XE 1999 with a weak engine and pretty rough interior/exterior. I'm now looking for a used car.

Budget is 12-13 max. I can't go above that for the car itself.

I've my sights set on the Honda City 2009/10/11. Can I get an ISB registered car in that range? Mileage should be decent, not too high. Fuel efficiency is also a priority.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Aren't they bringing out a new Swift shape soon? And well, registration and crap takes the cost all the way up to 14. Not in my budget. Also, isn't City a better car?

Bdw, what should I be looking at in a City? Don't have any experience in buying cars. Will prolly take a few experienced people along but it would still be nice to know some basic details.

I considered it. Actually my initial choice was between V2 and used Swift but then I was able to raise the budget just a little bit to fit a City in.

V2 is for those willing to take risks. I am not. The car is apparently a fine piece of machinery but.. it won't sell if I wanna trade up 3-4 years from now.

Pak Suzuki will take another 5 to 10 year to bring new shape of Swift.

Btw, New model of City is around the corner and new model can be launched anytime in this year.

Yes, registration cost will bring your budget near to 14 lacs. But in used car you also have to pay owner transferring charges which can be upto 40,000 - 50,000 PKR incase of non-filler.

Car should be clean and neat. One/two touch ups are ok. Consider, less mileage car.

Forget V2. Consider brand new Swift. It'll be trouble free for 4-5 year.

A friend recently bought a 2011 City in black color Islamabad number 58k driven and had extras like 15" alloys and upgraded sound system, he got the car for 13.1 lakhs and had to pay 40k additional at time of transfer.
For Honda, when you find an apparently good used car, take it to a Honda dealership, they charge around 2k for full inspection and tell you all about the car including the required work and touch-ups if any.

That's actually very nice. Lucky friend!

Is this inspection facility available at all Honda dealerships?

@ASKnASK Keep this in mind though, since no one mentioned it, City and Swift both have a stiff suspension i.e. they will be slightly less comfortable then your old car. If you care about comfort that is, otherwise go ahead and buy a City

I was about to mention this and suggest for Corolla but in 13 lakhs the model will be older.

    Yo fellow PGer.

Well I guess I'll have to get used to it. The positives/upgrades would take my mind off the stiff suspension I'm sure

Anyways, it totally depends on your preference. I only took my Swift once to Uni and then never again Axio has spoiled me too much lol
