    Default Daewoo Racer buying suggestions

    Aoa dear fellow members

I m getting a very nice daewoo racer here in islamabad, lahore 2001 registered. Inner original yellow n outer sprayed to bold beige. Car is in mint condition overall.

    Having said that,
    1. how is the market value of the car, as i wud likely to keep it for a year or less.
    2. Secondly what is the state of spare parts availability??

    Please advise on the matter

don't buy it, I had it in very good condition but it drinks a lot of petrol plus our local mechanic can't handle this car, spare parts are quite expensive, its easy to buy this car but maintenance cost is pretty much high!

Bro don't good for it, as you will be facing problems related to maintenance, as no parts available for this car anymore,.. All second hand parts are more or less in non-working condition. Secondly, good mechanics availability is also an issue, as every mechanics don't understand this machine..
What i am saying is from my personal experience, i have used this vehicle for more than 13 years... Car was allotted to my father as he was in the Army... So you can imagine the condition of zero meter car..

    Hilarious !

Can i ask you fine guys what option you guys have in mind for 350k approx ???

Having ..... Superb AC, very comfy soft ride, powerful engine, huge trunk space (more then many 1.3L cars), etc etc

Reg mileage, if u say good condition (Engine) daewoo, rock solid 10 km/L in city and 14 km/L on Long, depends on rush and driving habits ! U can ask any good maintained daewoo owner yourself.

Reg parts, they are widely available in pindi/ Isb, Lhr and Khi ! 2nd hand (Qabli) and brand new Korean, And of course they aren't expensive ....

People usually dont spend a penny on daewoo 80% daewoo on road, only do Juggars and keep it running for sale and low priced. Very few kept it in good required condition !

I suggest you take a look at Daewoo Fan club on pakwheels, just go through few pages of it from start, mid and End (latest) to have an idea about its spare availability and pricing !

A clean mechanically sound daewoo in Isb with Isb plates is between 325-370K !
My 2 cents, never buy daewoo from a mechanic and always prefer car on name of owner (no open letter).

**** Car condition is directly proportional to the condition of its owner ****

I once visited bahawalpur on this car, unfortunately AC stopped working on my way but i tried to fix it there in that city. I showed this car to around 10 to 15 mechanics there, noone is willing to even touch it.

Even in islamabad / Rawalpindi there are only 3 to 4 experts of this car.

Aur jo yeh chand mechanic khaal utaartay thats another story!

I owned this car in great condition it has lovely road grip but you hardly can find this car in stock conditions each daweo racer has been reassembled by our local mechanics. In my opinion car is totally waste of money and you simply can't trust this car!

And please don't share wrong milage with people here it can give hardly 7 to 8 km / litre within city.

I suggest buy small efi car.

I visit bwp, hasilpur, vehari via fsd on daewoo racer car 3-4 times a year ! Vhr is my native city !

Rest i am not sharing wrong info here, u should straight your facts, 7-8 km/L daewoo must have some engine issues, otherwise its normal to have 10-11 km/L in city ..... Try consult DFC for Ref !!!!

Rest i agree with you on this that in cities other then Isb/Rwp, Lhr, Khi .... there are very few mechanics who do work on daewoo racer. because its tricky !

Few things to keep while traveling out of city is one timing belt, one spare distributor, fuel pump ! Only if your car isn't properly maintained or you are extra cautious !

My experience, its labor cost is slight higher then mehran labor , otherwise worth every penny spend on it !!!!

    Peace .....

My first ever car was Daewoo Racer that I bought '0' meter back in 2001. kept it till Jan. 2014 and it was used near 400,000 KMs during this time. Had an excellent experience with it. Never had parts or mechanic issue in Isb. Used it on CNG and then on Petrol. Petrol average (when properly tuned on Petrol) was really impressive, I was getting an average of 13+ KM/L in my routine daily travel between Wah and Isb. I don't know current situation of spare parts but one thing is confirmed that a badly mantained Daewoo (or one with alterations) is surely a nightmare.
