Cool Corolla Altis Grande 1.8 or Civic VTI Oriel Prosmatec?

    AOA Guys,

I hope you all must be well!!

Well, coming to the topic, I currently own a 2012 Corolla GLi, had a very good experience with it when it comes with the durability factor, however now I am looking to change my car and I am down to the following two options for buying:

    1) Honda Civic IVTEC - Prosmatec (Fully loaded)
    2) Toyota Altis Grande CVTI 1.8

    Here is my personal opinion:

    1) I love Civic due to it's beautiful spaceship kind of interior
    2) I have heard that the drive quality and performance of civic has not match with Corolla
    3) Personally I want to buy Civic

BUT, I am a bit doubtful due to the following factors:

    1) I have heard that you cannot drive civic on roads like Haripur road (towards Abbotabad) as the road is a bit bumpy and it can cause problems for the civic's suspension, and personally I travel 4-5 times to Naran/Kaghan an year for leisure and sight seeing with family. Will civic be good enough for such travelling?

    2) Corolla looks better with respect to exterior

    3) Corolla has better resale value than civic?

    4) I have seen that the 9th Generation civic has been found lesser in number despite of being here in market since 2012, but the new Grande design is now very commonly available on the road, and it seems like people are buying it a lot. So I am concerned about the resale value too.

Please feel free to throw your opinions!!

    Regards,
    Aadil

thanks for the reply bro! what do you say about the durability factor i.e. driving on bumpy roads? is civic really that fragile that it will have some problems if driven on some rough roads?

Civic isn't that fragile. You're underestimating. With enough bumps any car can go down.

Depends on whether the bakra is more handsome or the chicken.

Civic has better ground clearance this time compared to previous gen civic.Taking the previous gen civic on a trip was a nightmare as with four people and luggage it would scrape everywhere! We tried a trip to Naran Kaghan around Eid season and with four people and luggage it did not scrape like the ones before it (We were unable to reach our destination due to rush) but on our way to Pir Chinasi it did not have any problems either! It felt like a miracle!

Corolla does look better this time around

The reason you see a lot of corolla's are because most of them are Gli's and Xli's and their competition is with city and they r better than city

Keep your car well mantained and InshAllah it will fetch a good price bro!

Bro, definitely go for a Corolla, it's much more durable than a Civic and yes the suspension might be faulty if you drive the Civic on bumpy roads. If you talk about resale, the two cars will almost be at the same price after 4-5 years but do keep in mind that you initially have paid more for the Civic. Another thing that you have to keep in mind would is that the parts of Civic are expensive than that of the Corolla. It will also be of use to note that the Corolla is longer than the Civic and has extremely good legroom and is also wider than the Civic, but this also has its flaws as the Corolla would be difficult to turn in tight spaces. The rest of the aspects about both cars are about the same.

If you really think that an immobilizer will save your car, you're wrong because there is certain technology out there with which any car can be stolen in just 3 minutes. And who said that the Civic has better resale, after 4-5 years, both will be at the same price, with you paying more for the Civic initially. (I'm not siding with the Corolla, I'm just speaking the truth).

    Hey,

Thanks guys for the detailed responses!

Well as I stated in my post that I am leaning towards CIVIC option more as compared to Rolla due to the following facts:

    - Civic has a beautiful interior that is totally unique in the PKDMs, no other local car is offering such features
    - I have heard a lot about CIVIC, but never kept it till date but what I am feeling now that "Civic is really an attitude".. and I am going in CIVIC fever now
    - Till date I have been using Rolla so I want to change my taste to see what CIVIC is all about.

So I have finally decided after reading PW forums and your precious reviews that I am going to buy a fully loaded model of CIVIC inn sha ALLAH.. yo guys, CIVIC!! Yesssss!!!

Thanks again for your time!! Feel free to send more suggestions as those will be helpful as well.
