Do you know why Apple is so successful? They make pretty, overpriced, and underpowered pieces of turd that are stupidly easy to use and maintain. For the same reason, most people use Microsoft's bloated OS. A rooted Android phone and Linux distributions are much better for the enthusiast, for someone who is willing to put in the time to sit down and learn.
Most of the Pakistani market consists of non-enthusiasts and/or people who simply don't have the time. They can't be bothered to find parts, wiring diagrams, service manuals, TSBs, and qualified technicians. There are people like my father, who can't give his Civic to a denter even for a day; he is constantly travelling between cities. He has been driving around with a heavily dented rear left door for a few weeks; a bunch of moronic inbred 12 year olds performed a hit and run while he was parked. He still didn't get the time to get the door skin replaced. Imagine if this was a JDM, and he had to wait 2-3 weeks hoping for the correct door skin to arrive. Then there are people like my mother, who just needs a commuter to and from work without hassles; the most she can do is check oil level, battery level, and coolant level. She needs a car that just goes to a qualified for a few hours at the most and be back on the road; she can't wait for the car to be parked at home and wait for a random sensor to arrive in 2-3 weeks from Japan.
You are right; JDMs are decent cars for enthusiasts, for people who are willing to spend time on their car. In fact, people can even maintain UKDMs, USDMs, EUDMs, and just about any DMs on Earth, and even classic cars, if they spend the time sourcing correct parts, acquire the correct repair tools, and learn the proper service procedures.
The problem is, many people who ask advice about buying a car, are clearly not capable of maintaining it. It would be highly irresponsible to point them to JDMs (or USDMs, EUDM's etc). For such people, an easily serviceable PKDM is the best advice, no matter how outdated and featureless.
