Default Honda City Aspire 1.5 vs Toyota corolla gli auto

    Asalam o alikum members
as there is alot of confusion about new city
many are buying current city some are waiting
if we look aspire 1.5 its price is 1800k while gli 1.3 auto is 1830k i think
which is worth the money as aspire have got many more goodies.
this thread not for myself its for all the members /buyers who are in confusion

What do you mean by small family? I guess, 5 member of family can easily sit in corolla and aswell in city.

OP- Gli auto is underpowered as compare to City 1.5. Atleast one should go for Altis 1.6

All just depends on your own requirements, City if you want more Power, More features, Something that handles better. Corolla if you want Comfort, Resale, Looks(though others might like the looks of City). To me Corolla is better as comfort is more important than having more power etc. And Corolla is not that bad in power, I mean, On long route you can easily go till 160 which is more than enough. These are family cars so speed isn't that big of an issue.

I have corolla gli at for home car.....my drivers complaining about being too sluggish n fuel average is not going above 8.5-9km/L......we have 2010 Honda city 1.3 ivtec n its still better in performance n fuel consumption......but corolla ride is comfort n also spacious at the back which is plus point for corolla gli over Honda city

Honda city Aspire 1.5 a/t wit navi screen, alloy rims, beige interior n much more power n performance even in fuel consumption is far more better in price compare to corolla gli a/t price
My lugnuts require more torque than your Vtec can put out...

City make and comfort level is HORRIBLE. i am one of the unsatisfied customer of Honda City aspire 1.5 prosmatec.

I use my car in isb only and still city is insanely Horrible and stiff and hard suspension.

i advise everyone to go for corolla, those so called ''GOODIES' can be bought for merely 50k for new corolla

lol by danda suspension i mean its uncomfortable! yes UN-comfortable! i own hondas and know their characteristics! take city over a bump as well as corolla! ull get to know what i m talking about! seating position of city sucks big time! rear doors have a very small ingress, egress and once ur successful in getting in, ull have phatta seats welcoming ur arce! then ull notice that its headlights arent enough for clear visibility! hard cabin trims are a big turn off! side view mirrors thoray baray bana detay to zindagi asan ho jati! i have traveled in city for consecutive 2 years so i noticed these faults! the only reason it has high sale is because its FUEL EFFICIENT(15kmpl)! people preferred economy over comfort this time and the mind set that 'handa tay handa hai' has provoked its sales! its totally my personal opinion! no hard feelings!

you have put forward a difficult question, gli has a slightly better ride, yes, SLIGHTLY. Consumption wise city wins, power wise the 1.5 is definitely better but the gli isn't half bad on plain roads. As for the goodies are concerned, well thats a matter of choice. as for finish is concerned, toyota have done a ridiculous job, the quality is annoyingly bad and there is a huge difference in each and every corolla due to the haste in production. Seen so many with unwanted gaps in the pannels. Stability wise city wins as its not too high off the ground but the corolla isn't that bad. the seating position of the new corolla is annoying for a tall fellow as front leg room isn't sufficient. As per space, city all the way.

Coming to a very major point, since your comparing the automatics, teh prosmatic is annoying in hilly areas, doesn't allow sudden bursts of power whereas the auto corolla is better in this aspect(my auto experience is based on the 1.6 auto) utilized the 1.3 in manual only.

to sum up, both have pros and cons, ends up to what the buyer is looking for and what he values more

if the power of gli is such a problem then why don't people get manual? it will give better economy as well... same goes for city 1.5... i would get the manual... don't know what the attraction is with auto cars... you can hyper mile the hell out of a car with manual and you can red line it every single time if you want, at will...
the problem with corrolla is the super lame truck level height and the bad handling that comes with that... city grips the road like crazy and has great pick, but it will start to give you the rattling sound in the cabin after just about 10k... it is very cheaply made, even compared to the crappy corrolla...

My friend is interested in buying a Corolla Altis 1.6 A/T but is being put off mostly due to the long waiting time for delivery and lack of information about fuel consumption as compared to Honda City Aspire 1.5 Prosmatic. Plus the hard suspension of the City is a factor which is also stopping him from going for the City. Can anyone post some comments about fuel consumption comparison? Thanks
    :-)

The auto city is a pathetic vehicle, lousy performance. Mileage is also not very impressive but I guess it would be the same as the 1.6 if not a km or 2 per litre better

It is annoying, I never said underpowered, I said annoying. It takes a while to respond and that delay is properly annoying

Nope it doesn't, that little Delay is due to transmission which exists in civic too
