Default Toyota hiace as private vehicle

Someone in my family wants to customize toyota hiace for their weekly travel on gt-road. His concern is will they be stopped by police more frequent thinking of hiace as a route car? What kind of issues he can face by police?

One of my friend had a hiace for their family in which they sometimes had to pick n drop kids for their tuition center. Although that was not a routine job but still whenever there were kids in the van they had a challan. Police say u need a route permit for it although that van was also his private family car. So we are concerned if hiace is good option or no?
