Default Octane number of Regular and Hi-Octane petrol in Pakistan.

    Dear All

PS: This is not an opinion thread. If anyone have sound data with reference please share here.

The question is, what is the octane-number of the petrol we get in Pakistani petrol pumps, the one sold as regular and the one sold as hi-octane in some pumps.

    92 is a confusion, don't know why.

    Till now,
    Regular/Super is 87RON
    Hi octane/HOBC is 97RON.

From October, the regular/Super is going to be 90RON, not 92.

The cost of this rise in quality (shall be called as imposed environmental regulation) will be charged to the end users i.e. Us...
The gasoline price will increase by 2.6PKR/Litre, at least.

Giving great mileage per litre is again not 100% true.

But yes, the imported gasoline will be 92RON for Attock refinery and National refinery, as they can make max 87RON.
Imported will be used for blending.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan will start importing RON 92 standard petrol from October, which will improve efficiency of vehicles and give good mileage per litre, official sources in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources said.
"Currently, the country is importing 87 RON petrol, which is not of a very high quality, but from October we are going to replace it with RON 92 standard petrol," they told APP.
Besides, they said the government was making tireless efforts to increase the country's oil refining capacity.
Accordingly, a task to Pakistan Arab Refinery Company (PARCO) to complete Khalifa coastal refinery, having capacity to produce 250,000 barrels per day, which was pending for last several years.
They said six oil and gas discoveries were made in June, adding 83 discoveries were made in three years since the present federal government took over.
These are a record number of discoveries made in just one month, from where 50.1 mmcfd gas and 2,359 barrels oil per day would be produced.
Following the 83 oil and gas discoveries in last three years, around 631 million cubic feet per day (mmcfd) gas and 27,359 barrels per day Crude Oil production has been added to the system, they added.
^ Its going to be 92.

    G sir,
Let's hope it goes up to 92 but not going to be so in October.

Khalifa Coastal refinery (KCR) had completed its feasibility report in 2007, and as per petroleum minister PARCO is going to follow its installation.
Mind you its a 5b $ project, a direly needed one too as we re importing more than 70% of our petroleum requirements.

The RON, however, is a different issue...

And the record discoveries sum up to 27,359 barrels of crude per day ONLY.
The RECORD oil discoveries are merely 11% of KCR refining capacity.

PARCO being the largest refinery at the moment (of Pakistan) is 100,000 barrels per day.
