I currently have Civic 2015 and Grande 2016. Also had previous shapes of Civic. I had a tough time deciding between Civic X Oriel 1.8 and Grande CVTi. A buddy went with the former, while I went for the latter. Hence I know how these two cars are.
Grande is better
Suspension; Grande is soft with amazingly smooth steering movement
Value for money; you can compare Civic X Hardtop with Grande in terms of pricing, and the options you get on the Grande are crazy.
Exterior; depends upon personal taste, but yes the Civic is a head-turner majorly because its new (My opinion might change once the shape has been here for 2-3years). The front of the Civic is aggressive while Grande looks sophisticated, depends what you like.
Quality; Civic has cheap material used and the paint job is not so good either. Corolla is better
Seating; If you have 4-5 people in your family then have a look at the rear seating capacity of the new Civic, the floor hump is back. Grande has ample space in the rear for 3 adults.
If you want shashka then go for the Civic. If you have the range, then definitely go for Civic Turbo over Grande, there's no comparison. But if you're planning to opt for Civic hardtop or Oriel, the comparison above is definitely valid.
Personally, the R18 in the civic wasn't new for me since I had it in my previous 2 Civics. Grande's 2ZR powerhouse surely gives Civic's 1.8 a run for its money.
I hope this feedback helps.
