Default Why tyres difference in coralla ?

i cant understand WHY indus is giving corolla 175/70/14 in sinple 2.0d n 185/65/14 in saloon ....n the same case in petrol cars XLI 175/70/14 n altis or se saloon 185/65/14
i think they should standard 185/65/14 in all cars .... i think grip will improve alot in 2.od n XLI .

175/70/14 is cheaper and offers less rolling resistance so that's why they fit it to the base models.

Rolling resistance: In layman's terms.. it's the resistance faced by the tire when it's rolling against the road.
Less rolling resistance means good fuel economy. But also means lousy braking cause of the less friction it has.

A good article on rolling resistance... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rolling_resistance
