    Default ignition timming

    Bro's i have replaced the ignition coil. My car starts now but as i have no timing gun so how can i set the fire timing correctly.
    When i rotate the distributor anticlockwise the RPM drops and when i rotate it to clockwise RPM increses.

    Manual says the setting on 12 degree.
    i have also set it in mid as i dont know how to measure degrees??? but my car is not climbing a small slope in 1st gear on CNG after that.

    Plz guide that should i set distributor at position where the RPM goes very high???

    Thanx!!

    If u wana do it with out timing gun then u have to proceed with hit & trial method try on diffrent position & check throtlle response of engine. As per my poor information spark timing for CNG shud be slightly advance as compare to petrol because of diffrent burning time of both fuels. Start from position where engine RPM increases then slightly move the distributor to other positions.

    First try to set the spark timing on petrol. Start slowly rotating clockwise and give sudden throttle at each position (better keep one hand on the distributor and other on the throttle). The position at which the throttle response is good and there is no knock is the exact position of spark timing.

    Now convert to CNG and rotate a little bit clockwise.

    @Chviky....................

    As spectra said do it, I just add more for your convenience that during the setting keep your car on petrol, where it knocks very slightly on petrol by giving throtle, that is the best position for cng.
