Default 7 Seater Family Car Needed - Suggestions please

    Asalaam-o-alaikum

I am planning to relocate to Lahore from Manchester UK. Mashallah I have a young family of 3 kids and need to purchase a jeep / family car that will seat 5 + driver comfortably.

I am looking for something that is very practical and spacious. Ideally I would like a Toyota Previa (Luciada) or a Chrysler Voyager, but I don't think these are popular in Pakistan and are too expensive for me. I have a budget of approx. 15 lacs.

Another point is that should I buy brand new or 1 or 2 years old? i.e how much will the price of a new vehicle depreciate over 1 year in Pakistan?

Thanks for reading and any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

    Wasalaam

    @atifdar

In your budget, probably a 2002-2003 Toyota estima (lucida) is the best option. My uncle has one and he is very much satisfied. Its spacious, can feed the hunger for luxury, and its toyota. Chrysler or anyother brand will not be a good option.

As far as depreciation is concerned, well i dont know much and i'd suggest you buy a good car ad forget about selling it coz no matter what u buy, these imported expensive vehicles do lose money in a year's time or so.

A brand new family van/suv will not be possible in your budget i believe.

I hope you dont want a suzuki bolan.lol.

Whoa! great to see so many replies within minutes of posting!

I had a look at the AVP and the brochure shots looked ok, but how is it from the inside?

If the Toyota Previa (Estima) is available in Pakistan, then that is great and you say that they lose value quickly and so I guess I could pick up a 2-3yr old model fairly cheap - right?

What is the best way of going about purchasing a car in Pakistan? Private via ads on sites such as these or is it just a matter of going from dealer to dealer? Or is there a better way?

    Thanks

    Again

Yes, well when you put it like that - there really is no choice! The Toyota wins hands down.

What kind of prices am I looking at and where to buy?

    Thanks.

the APV is not much of a choice but since it is imported by suzuki u should find all the parts locally. with the other options mentioned by people here u will b stuck even if u have a minor accident or mechanical problem. dont buy a used van as very few were imported and parts are not available.

a used toyota prado would be a better option (as parts are available due to large volumes imported in used condition) but again in your price range you will get a 10 yr old one. go for APV i guess... i would with your limitations. its brand new at least.

    Hi

I really like the Estima and at 16 lac, I can stretch to that. But like Excalibur says the decision to buy could prove costly due to the lack of availability of parts.

What about insurance, does that not cover the cost of repairs etc.

    Thanks
    Atif

my vote is for estima. APV is nothingg as compared to estima.even if you get it cnged, it will work quite alright.

As for insurance, i dont know much but you can find parts for estima as well i believe. even if you buy parts of apv from suzuki dealer, they wont be cheap either trust me.

Best way is to buy through a reliable source if you are buying estima. If you are coming to lahore, check MARKS. They are giving a quality service. ALTA and some other importers from KHI can also help u.

    Hi

Yes, I think I am coming down on the side of the Estima. It certainly is a more desirable car, and it is time I lived a little!

I saw that MARKS has already made a reply in this thread, if you are reading this, please let me know what you have available right now in Estimas. Thanks.

And also anyone who knows anything about car insurance in Pakistan.

Oh, yes there was one other thing, would an Estima be seen as quite normal in Lahore?. I would not like to attract the attention of the wrong sort of people, in regards to security of my family etc.

    Thanks
    Atif

yes go for estima. As for the parts there is no problem of parts and there are approximately every cars parts present in karachi.About the ensurance you can make the car insured but you would have to pay a lil amount when you are for repairs and the rest would be given by the ensurance company
