An Year into its launch and after some serious thoughtful deliberation I finally decided to let go of my previous Civic ( https://www.pakwheels.com/forums/members-member-rides/190834-my-new-girl-friend-oriel-prosmatic-umair2203 )
A while ago I asked PW for a suitable colour for the next ride ( https://www.pakwheels.com/forums/member-opinions-suggestions/214964-please-suggest-2013-civic-colour ) and finally settled for Alabaster Silver after a tough competition between Silver and Red.
Coming straight to the point , I am making this thread specially on fellow members request , specially @mwanwar , @ahmad_yar , @rollonbigmama and all those who are in a rut, like I was few months ago weather to update from 8th gen or Not. Please say Mash Allah. I am going to get it insured ASAP.
Love it :-
More Quiter cabin on highway speed as compared to 8th Gen Civic and also compared to Corolla (Yes I have kept Corolla as well ). Most of my journeys are on highway (about 80% of them) so thanks Honda for this.
Much Fuel Efficient than Previous generation. it is around 16.5kpl with cruise @120pkh. It drives like a Civic but with "Econ" mode, it is all together a different personality and more handy within City. Point to note >> It is lighter than Previous Civic around 110lbs
Driving Position & seats are a major Improvement. Blind spot is minimal (again with compared to 8th gen Civic)
They've also Improved the Navigation head Unit. The feel and feedback is much reasonable now
The new steering is another treat. feels lighter but still has some feedback which feels nice and premium. Quotes from Paultan Review "The Civic has Motion Adaptive EPS, which combines VSA with the electronic power steering. Essentially, the car will automatically apply brakes on the appropriate side and make the necessary adjustments to the steering wheel to keep its nose out of trouble"
Yes, the Interior plastics are hard but still better than City
Honda has mastered the art of making odo cluster interesting so Yes, with I-MID and two tier layout something to be praised.
Don't know about last Civic but leather in this Civic feels premium and better than any after market I realized it after opting for fabric. (Although fabric is imported but Leather is still better )
Leave it :-
When 8th Gen came out in 2006-07, it was a big jump in terms of technology, looks and everything that makes a car. That leaves 9th Gen in a competition with its predecessor. Although Honda has improved upon almost all aspects, like fuel efficiency, cabin space, rear leg room but they couldn't pull the same miracle as they did when they launched 8th gen. So Honda gets beaten with its own legacy ( in my opinion )
Interior plastics are better than City , Yes but still hard and looks tacky sometimes
Expensive for its name. but what is Not expensive in pak. If City can cost 1.8 mills , Civic is bound to cross 2.5 million rupees (24.065 lac invoice + 16,900 for utility package + 1.35 lac Registration + 70k Insurance = 26 lacs )
I haven't taken the car to its limits yet so can't comment much on the handling but will keep you guys updated. All those who are looking to upgrade and have the budget allowance should upgrade. This Civic is bound to stay without any changes for next 2-3 years atleast. 8th Gen had its time but things get old and we cannot hold on to past , no matter how much we liked it
PS. I will remove all the tacky stickers and will try and Improve on my photography skills. I took these while the car was being washed.
