Geely CK over the years, has been a pillar product in terms of sales. It is one of the best selling cars in its class with an average monthly sales figure of around 5500 units in China. Earlier this year, Geely was planning to launch 1.6-liter displacement of the new CK, however Chinese government has been encouraging fuel efficient vehicles recently and has been offering subsidies up to 3000 yuan (approx 38,000 PKR) on purchase of cars below 1.6l displacement that are fuel efficient. The Ministry of Industry has issued subsidies on 132 models to promote fuel-saving vehicles, but Geely's only 1.0-liter displacement Panda is in that list. So Geely will be pushing out a 3-cylinder 1.0-liter engine CK, instead of 1.6l so as to qualify for the subsidy.
Changes in New CK will be the net grille, supported by a three bar pattern instead of four, crystal headlamps & upgraded xenon headlights. The lower edge of the bumper area is increased, the cooling air inlet on both sides are elongated, forming half-moon. Fog lamp square is changed to a more sophisticated oval. There are a few smaller changes in the tail, license plate frame on the edge of the chrome trim has been simplified, fold the bottom of the rear bumper is slightly different, and the remaining elements will be there unchanged. However, the high-end models will be equipped with electric sunroof and stylish new alloy wheels.
Older CK were equipped with 1.3-liter displacement MR479Q engine. This was based on decades old Toyota 8A engine technology (licensed), New CK will have a 1.0-liter three-cylinder JL3G10A engine, with intake and exhaust continuously variable valve timing system, CVVT, all-plastic intake manifold, electronic section of the valve, chain driven timing gear, electronic sequential multi-point injection fuel supply system, MPI, and double overhead camshaft (DOHC). This engine is said to be similar to the one used in Toyota Aygo. With a maximum speed of 145 km, will fully meet the needs of daily use. Although the reduced weight is only a mere 13 kilograms but the fuel consumption has declined significantly, reaching the main design purpose. The urban fuel consumption per hundred kilometers of the new CK face lift 1.0-liter engine, is just 6.0 liters thus it will save 2 liters as compared to the 1.3l CK. If the new CK is approved by the Ministry of Industry, then the CK 1.0 will expect a government subsidy of 3,000 yuan (38,000 PKR)
The new CK will take on the rivals such as FAW N5 and Chery Cowin. The price of CK 1.3 starts from 39800 yuan (5.01 lac PKR) while the new CK 1.0 is expected to be priced from 36800 yuan (4.63 lac PKR) while the 3000 yuan subsidy will bring it down to 33800 yuan (4.25 lac PKR)
