i believe chassis of a particular year/series is good for a number of corresponding years of bodies. for example a 1996 model chassis may be good to be swapped over with vehicles upto year 2000. it differs from Surfs, and Prados as in case of any other vehicle. two issues have cropped up. First, which model chassis is good for what all models/years of bodies for the swap to be perfect requiring no alterations. Secondly Custom people allow this or not. I am clear about the second part that it is no business of custom authorities to allow or not allow change of parts form a particular year to another year. there job is to make sure that no smuggled items are brought into the country. what if one were to buy a body off another model vehicle which was legally tax paid and registered in Pakistan. is there any record of its body number etc with any authority in the country? academically speaking, if one could get a smuggled body of A model, on could also get smuggled body of b model. it is therefore nothing more than brow beating or highhandedness of custom authorities if they try to impose any restriction on body swap in terms of year of its manufacture.
