To all respected members in favor of CNG and to the poster, my apologies in advance.
But I am totally against the CNG culture, the businesses on CNG, (inter city travelling), the transport on CNG (buses and mazda's, not rickshaws), the Coffey sips enjoyed in an AC car idling on CNG, the outings and vacations on CNG. Not because I am someone born with a golden spoon, but because I believe luxuries and profits should only be enjoyed at the expense of money. Its same as I say that the one who has cash should only be allowed to buy a car. You can see the leasing concept in private vehicles destroyed the harmony of traffic and also the subsequent sky high prices.
Brother pistonhead's post is a reallity. We do have reserves of coal but the currently bored fuel wells in sindh are loosing pressure. To quote an example "Marri" gas field in sindh had the well head pressure of 1500 psi initially. Now its reduced to 300 psi and they use compressors in parallel to bring that gas to consumer. They had planned 8 wells in total. Unfortunately 02 of them turned out to be empty.
To quote another fact, British Petroleum had a major gas field setup in PK. After their mishap last year in America, they had to sell off their assets to pay the penalties. Pakistan had been becoming a land with unsuccessful gas reserve hit rates during rigging. So thats why they had to include it along with 02 other countries (Egypt and Bangladesh) and winded up business in PK. UEG (chinese investor has taken over BPP assests now) So you can see, we are under serious shortage issues in near future because new oil fields and well discoveries are not done and the ones being done are heartbreaking

Natural gas is our country's asset. It should be used to run industries, not vehicles. We have petrol and deisel for vehicles. We can pay international markets to import it. We can refine it at Pakistan Refinary and Parco (Kot Addu). The one who can buy a car can certainly afford petrol. If he cant, he doesnt deserve to buy one. (Again i dont mean to hurt any1s feelings here. Think about it with a calm mind.)
Finally, your post about LNG may be another business opportunity for some, but I believe its more of a govt attempt to reduce CNG culture.
