hi
as the title suggests.. i need info about the modding the ports of the cylinder head.. has anyone done it..? its a process where the ports inlet and exhaust are opened to allow more air/fuel mixture to burn..
from what i gather from other forums its a good thing and it can give 20% more power... but has anyone did it here ?
some mechanics who do alterations do it.. they recomend it,,
the reason for the increase in performance is that the default factory head are cast and casting has many flaws.. so it takes a huge time and resources to perfecct the ports.. .. for example polish the exhaust port to allow free and smooth flow of exhaust gases.. and to increase the dia of inlet port and also make some raised surfaces for better atomization of fuel/air mixture.. and hence a complet burn of mixture..
u can search online about it,,
from wikipedia
Cylinder head porting refers to the process of modifying the intake and exhaust ports of an internal combustion engine to improve the quality and quantity of the air flow. Cylinder heads, as manufactured, are usually suboptimal due to design and manufacturing constraints. Porting the heads provides the finely detailed attention required to bring the engine to the highest level of efficiency. More than any other single factor, the porting process is responsible for the high power output of modern engines.
please post the any info if u have
