the TPS = throttle position sensor and relays throttle pedal position to the ECU and has no idea of anything regarding airflow, there is no airflow measurement unit on your engine being an old honda it measures engine load via a MAP sensor which is called a manifold absolute pressure sensor. In very simple terms it measures intake manifold vacuum which translates as load to the ECU

And the transmission in your car is fully hydraulic with only a couple of lockup solenoids on it. - The only thing than can alter shift points and shift quality is the TV cable that goes to the transmission valve body (its located at the front of the transmission case.
Adjust that correctly - correct adjustment is when you have very slight play 2mm at the TV cable lever on the transmission at full throttle position.
