WOW! i've read some seriously stupid replies here.
Oil viscosity has NOTHING to do with the drain interval. What's important is the operating environment, engine condition, age, wear, oil filtration efficiency, air filtration efficiency, etc.
People generalize WAY too much in PK when it comes to oil, and come up with some retarded theories they have either made up or hae heard from these morons who call themselves Ustaads. For example, you're using honda oil which is a semi-synthetic 10W30 if i remembe correctly. first off, in winter it'll be ok to use but in summer it running at its limit even in RWP. if this car was in karachi and was driven hard for short runs you can expect the oil to fail in less than 2000kms!! same thing with fully synthetic oils, it's complete BS when people say "you can run it for 10000kms without a problem". reason is that these people don't factor in the operating environment. Even if you were to used mobil1 super syn 5W50 (probably the best engine oil available in the world) in your car it'd be highly contaminated by 10000kms and would contain large amounts of suspended dirt & carbon/soot. this is why i always suggest people stick to mineral oils as they are cheaper and can be changed more often. but you must note that not all minerals are the same. for example PSOs best mineral oil is API SG which is outdated/obselete, whereas Fuchs Titan Super GT is cheaper and far superior as well as being API SL (currently valid API standard). however if you can afford a fully synthetic there is nothing better.
What you should do is check the oil colour, smell & duration yourself. Change it when it gets dark or before 6 months pass (mineral or synthetic). Try to avoid these stupid semi-synthetic oils as they are garbage. either stick to mineral or go full synthetic. most semi-synthetics available here are substandard and don't deserve the right to be called semi-synthetics, they should be treated as mineral oils. no more.
As for oils, PLEASE use an API SL (mineral) or API SN (synthetic) oil or better as you'll at least give your engine a chance to run clean for longer. Also make sure you buy REAL oil as in PK almost half the oil for sale is fake (statistic given to me by someone high-up in PSO).
Do note that your owners manual is just a japanese (JDM) manual which has been translated to english and has no regard for the local operating environment. Here the dust is finer than in japan and our filters (air and oil) do not filter efficiently under 30 microns. Sadly these are the particles which will cause damage at startup & daily driving.
Always use the best possible filters you can & remember oil-bath air filters are best, foam air filters are very good & paper filters are next to useless for microscopic particle filteration.
As for oil filters, when you oil darkens you can extend the opperating distance by approx 500kms by simply replacing the filter with a new one till you can make it to a safe place to change the oil. Please remember to "wet" the inside of the new oil filter with oil (as well as the gaskit) when installing it otherwise it WILL rip upon startup due to oil pressure surge.
