with an increasing number of spammers & unwanted posts appearing on this site, including the pro forums, here are a few suggestions/ preventive measures which i have observed on other forums, the implementation of which will reduce the chances of unwanted posts on Pakwheels.
Anti-Spamming: Any newly created member id cannot post in forums until a certain age/ post limit has been reached. Every post they made has to be verified by moderators before it appears on the forums. Example: a member with at least 50 posts will be able to contribute to the forums without having the need to be moderated.
Preventing Digs: If a member makes a reply to a thread which is not active for more than 10 months, a warning message in red should appear (below the quick reply button) indicating that the thread is old. This will help members who are unwillingly about to dig a certain thread. For spammers however, who intentionally dig old threads with fake ids, replies posted in a thread which is not active for more than 10 months need to get the moderator approval before it appears on the thread.
edit: as for member ride threads & wheel fan clubs, members can always put healthy contributions even after a longer period since moderation to inactive threads will always be there & those willing to continue on with the thread can always notify moderators about it!
i believe this way we can maintain healthy contributions to the forums while eliminating the unwanted posts/ digs by spammers to a much greater extent..
