This is really about the war that rages on between art and production. As soon as an artist sells his painting for need then his art is lost. This is because an artist should never be driven by money...You know, the starving artist...
That is why so many artists suffer while alive and their work is largely appreciated after their death.
Art and vocation must be kept separate so as not to taint the art. This is a purist view, I know, but I speak the truth.
Concept cars, like ifi put so well, are art. Unfettered by the needs of reality, free thinking concepts are used to inspire production models.
Believe me, and I know, driving concept cars by and large, SUCKS. I drove the original Dodge Viper concept and was involved with the production model in 1992. That is one of the best production interpretations of a concept I have ever seen, and it was a very rough riding vehicle. It cost about $23 million to build the one off concept...Still want to have the concept car for that amount?
