Always thought of visiting cape mount and today after seeing that the weather is good, since it rained during fajr, thought of visiting the beach and maybe cape mount.
So off I went and after visiting Sandspit, skipping Hawksbay, briefly stopping over at Paradise Point finally arrived at Cape Mount.
If you start from MT Khan Road aka Queens Road it will take 1 hour to reach. The distance is not much, it is only 35 Odd KMs but due to heavy traffic it takes a lot of time. Maybe on a weekday or weekend it may take around 1.5+ hours. Today was a sort of public holiday so traffic was thin.
If you take the Mauripur Road which skips sandspit and hakwsbay then the road is pretty decent. I took the sandspit and hawksbay route since wanted to visit sandspit too. The road is in pathetic condition till hawksbay roundabout. After that the road is fine and at some place outstanding.
Total distance travelled was 180Km since had to go to malir to pick cousins and then drop them back.
It is safe to go there in daylight and many people frequent that area. Advisable to go in at least two cars in case something happens but even alone I think it is manageable.
There are no huts or shelter at cape mount but Paradise Point is just 1 Km away and you can use restrooms and buy drinks and other stuff if required.
There is Nathiagali Beach just ahead (less than 1 KM) of cape mount which is out of bounds for ordinary (bloody) civilians. There is a Naval Check Post and that's the end of the road for most of us. I went up-to the check-post to inquire if he will let me in but he didn't. The guard was polite and not aggressive at all. It is in control of Navy and if you have connections you can get permission to visit it. It is one beautiful beach and it is something out of this world. I visited it some 7 odd years ago and it was marvellous.
And since it is Pakwheels I should mention in which car I was travelling.
It was Chevrolet Exclusive(H).
I have posted in detail about the location since I was also curious about cape mount. Didn't know where it was and how to reach there and whether it was safe or not and what facilities are available there. Sharing it so that other people looking to go there can get an idea.
Apart from one bad incident which happened inside Karachi the trip was great. Since it is 11 rabiul awal the "PIOUS" people have a right to abuse mere ordinary "less religious" and ignorant people. There were some dozen or so vans , some cars and bikes of a new political *** religious *** jannati party Sunni Threek which were going in a herd abusing, shouting (to be polite) people on the road. Some were abusive towards us and were staring at us(family) with long beards as if this is what 11-12 rabiul awal is about. Some ******** were shouting to follow us but thankfully the car in the front of their herd met an accident and started fighting. This allowed us to escape. So all is well that ends well and this is what Pakistan has come to and we have to live with it sadly
Another bad news is that my camera batteries ended at paradise point :P. I promise I went till cape mount .
I have the pics but taken from mobile so bare with them
