Dear brothersMy mechanic changed my 04 santro's timing belt at around 88k kms but said it didnt need the bearing replacement. Just need your guidance regarding whether the car is good to go or has he fooled me just to save his energyRegardsEhsan
if its not creating any noice , no play in it , and runs smoothly , then its good to go ,,,,,
No energy required to change it once it is in open, if it is like what @goodfriend said then dont worry he didnt ripped you off. But If he wanted to make fool of you, then he would have asked you to buy a new one of his liking and also from the place of his interest and also wouldnt have installed it.
Dear Ehsan, what is the price of Timing Belt and Bearing? This is also due in mine Santro and have to change it next few days.
Thanks.
Thankyou very much dear bros. I guess there is no noise or something in the original bearing.... at least I hope so :-]@aamir hussain......You can get belt/ bearing for 1200/ 3000 and can also get them for 600/ 1800. Apart from the debate of some being original and others korean but not original, the first set goes good for around 60000 and other set for about 40000 (as I heard so). Myself got the belt from Chaudhry autos Peshawar for 600 and labor charges were around 700..Hope this gives you some idearRegardsEhsan
Rs. 2600 for both....timing belt + bearing.its strongly recommended that you change BOTH of them after a certain mileage ...usually after every 80k on the odometer...all the best
