First of all, you have posted this topic in RIGHT PLACE. It is for non-wheels discussions and you are most welcome to start this topic.
If you are seriously interested in Islam, then there are many informative websites. I highly respect your opinion.
TOYOPAT bhai, have said is correctly. I also listened to Brother Zakir Naik's lectures on video tapes, a Muslim from India, with Doctorate Degree, a highly qualitfied Muslim Religious scholar. I have learned alot from that brother.
I have met many people from all faiths that have recently converted to Islam and many of them did it after serious research and many of them were highly educated and were drawn toward the truth in Quran.
We the Born Muslims take this faith for granted and many of us have, sad to say, forgot the right path. The path to lead the humanity away from life of sin and material worship alone, and worshipping the true creator.
Islam does not DRAW you away from material world either, unlike other faiths, that inorder to become a RELIGIOUS Follower of certain faiths, you have to completely give up the world, in Islam, you are encourage to live in this current world and Participate in advancement of this world on Scientific and Education basis, and also keeping in mind your limits.
Limits such as not to curse, not to lie, not have fornication, not to drink alcohol, not have fornication/ intimate relationships with other genders before marriage, etc. and if we look closely, there is a reason why there are these limits. These limits prevent you from many behaviors associated with criminal activities.
Alcoholism is directly linked with lewd behavior, and using foul language, fornication and prostitution is a directly derived from being careless about having relationships before marriage, which further spurn the birth of childern out of wedlock, and in many cases, kids not knowing who there father is.
Religion is very central to every human being. And the source of Religion, a holybook is like a operating manual from the creator. Just like a car manual book for a brand new car, tells you how to operate it to keep it running smoothly for years ahead. True Religion books and proper guidance from a Religious scholar can guide a person on right path.
Allah/God, only guide those whom can be guided.
This is why whole humanity is not guided, only those that Allah/God has guided would be guided to true path.
Wish you all the best.
