Many auto-makers choose the words to appeal to the mass global audiances. Even if a car is of Non-European Origin, the makers select a Latin (ancient European) sounding names to appeal to the Global Buyers..
Who would be appealed to a car with a JAPANESE name..
i.e. Even thought COROLLA is a Japanese Car, but the name is GREEK - meaning a ROSE PETAL. Its sounds much more appealing. If this car was name Toyota Kunachiwa, or some other typical Japanese Name, it would not sound so appealing... Corolla is a greek name, and it sounds very appealing.
Also The "Latin" origin words of Spanish and Italian have the "O" ending for the MASCULINE gender.
So, are most of the names. Diablo is Italian word for The DEVIL.
So the Italian Cars with "O" like Enzo or Galardo have this Masculine connotation to it.
The Spanish words like ALTO meaning TALL, also is "Masculine".
A funny thing though..
While the words that end with an "A" are Feminine.
Corolla
Optima (Kia)
Sedona (Kia)
Carina (Toyota)
Cresida (Toyota)
Cellica (Toyota)
Supra (Toyota)
Wow.. Didn't know so many Toyota Cars were Feminine sounding.. LoL
Even Arabic, Muslim Names that end with "A" are Feminine, just like the Latin words
Amina
Amira
Fatima
etc...
So, as a rule, the "O" Ending words are Masculine, and
While the "A" ending names are feminine.
Eventhough REVO is short for Revolution.....We are glad that Pakistan's car REVO is a Maard Da Putaar...
While MEHRAN, a female name, is for a Feminine Car...
LoL
