nust vs uet, i consider both equally good so it comes down to mechatronics vs mechanical. Before we jump to conclusions, I would like to know what are your interests? Do you understand what is mechatronics (not just the wikipedia definition)? Where do you want to see yourself after 4-5 years? which type of job/industry you want to focus as your career?
If I were you, I would go for mechanical. No offence to mechatronics engineers (i being one), yes there are jobs for mechatronics engineers but not as much as mechanical. Even though a mechatronics engineer is trained to do well in almost all of industries but he is specialized in none. Of course you can do well in those industries but only when you have got the job. Currently in Pakistan, employers are not very confident to hire mechatronics engineer. My seniors and most of my batch mates are doing good jobs but those are after all more mechanical and electrical oriented jobs. So why take the alternate route when you can do that directly anyway?
Secondly never go for specialized fields (petroleum etc) Do mechanical or electrical instead. These specialized fields look attractive and flashy but there is a high chance you will end up badly. If you do petroleum, your target job area gets very limited however with mechanical or electrical you have equally high chances to get into Oil & Gas but now you have other options too
Lastly, whatever you do, do it well.
