ITINERARY :
Note :- Although we try to adhere to the schedule listed below, this itinerary is subject to change due to numerous reasons beyond our control such as bad weather, road washouts, vehicle breakdowns, accidents, sickness, govt restrictions, & all other unforeseen exigencies.
DAY 01 ? RAWALPINDI / Skardu. Total drive time from Islamabad to Skardu is 22-24 hours.
DAY 02- SKARDU (HOTEL) Free day for rest, shopping or sightseeing. While staff will make final arrangement for the trek. Overnight at hotel.
DAY 03 ?SKARDU -TO- ASKOLE (CAMP)
Note:-The road to Askole comes undergoing rapid erosion and gets closed quite often. If unable to jeep, the group will disembark & walk to Askole on the same day or camp for overnight (subject to distance).
DAY 04-ASKOLE -TO- JHULA (CAMP)
Today we leave the last inhabited village. For the remaining portion of our journey we rely on our porters who carry our food and equipments and sustain our expedition.
DAY 05- JHULA -TO- PAIJU (CAMP)
DAY 06- PAIJU -TO- KHUBERSAY (CAMP) Begin trek after an early breakfast.
DAY 07- KHUBERSAY -TO- URDUKAS (CAMP)
DAY 08- URDUKAS -TO- GORO II (CAMP) A long walk on the icy Baltoro Glacier.
DAY 09- GORO -TO- CONCORDIA (CAMP) After an early breakfast, resume a long walk on the Baltoro Glacier to a point called Concordia - a huge junction of Baltoro, Abruzzi & Godwin Austin Glaciers at 4000 meters. Within a short radius of 15 Kilometers, stand 41 peaks over 6500 meters. Including 04 peaks above 8000 M. The 360 view offers a panorama of peaks nowhere to be found on this Earth. Overnight in tents.
DAY 10-CONCORDIA REST DAY (CAMP) Members are free to explore K2 base (A day trip 4 hrs up 3 hrs down) after an early breakfast, resume your walk to K2 Base Camp. Overnight in tents at Concordia.
DAY 10- CONCORDIA -TO- ALI CAMP OR VIA COME DOWN SAME WAY. (CAMP)
DAY 11 ? ALI CAMP -CROSS GONDOGORO PASS-KHUSPANG (CAMP)
DAY 12- KHUSPANG -TO-DALSANGPA (CAMP) It is a beautiful campsite at about 4,150 metres, set between two lakes, with Masherbrum Mountain and the white glacier cascading down from Masherbrum Pass reflected in the still water.
DAY 13- DALSANGPA -TO- SHAICHO (CAMP) Resume trek along the path; Keep yourself on the left side of the lateral moraine, crossing several side streams. The next hour is an unpleasant scramble along the stony, sliding glacier edge, with huge boulders poised above, ready to fall.
DAY 14- SHAICHO -TO- SKARDU (HOTEL) SKARDU REST DAY: Free day skardu ..
DAY -15- SKARDU TO CHILAS : (HOTEL)
DAY 16-RAWALPINDI
2 Cushion days will be included according to numerous reasons..
PRACTICAL INFORMATION
Walk slowly: there is plenty of time included in the itinerary so there is no need to rush, go at your own pace and enjoy the incredible views!
Drinks lots of water: it is easier for your body to acclimatize when hydrated so drink water and avoid coffee, tea and alcohol.
CLIMATE
The traditional trekking season in Pakistan is June to September. K2 Base Camp trek will have a wide range of temperatures depending on the
altitude and the time of day.
In the mountains between 1,000m and 3,500m the nights will be cool
normally around 5˚C. During the day temperatures canbe very hot even as
high as 40˚C in the lower elevations. Bring lots of water, sunhat and
sunscreen!
