wasalam,
Me and my 4 friends visited Neelum Valley in August 2013 right after Eid-ul-Fitr. Our trip was of 3 days.
1-The key attractions we found out were Athmuqam, Keran, Neelum Point, Sharda, Kel, Arang Kel (it was the best place among others but it needs 2 hours hike from Kel). Our plan was to go further but due to shortage of time we returned from Arang Kel. Further places are Taobat, Upper Taobat, Shontar Lake etc.
2- The hotel prices are economical in Kashmir. You can easily find hotels to stay in Athmuqam, Keran, Sharda, Kel. But keep in mind that Hotels will be filled after Asar prayer because the place will be crowded because of Season. So you will have to reserve your stay in some hotel before Asar prayer.
3- Only one network is available in the Area. I dont remember its name. It is owned by Army. You can purchase its SIM from Athmuqam. Its code starts with 035...
4- There is metalled road up to Sharda. But after it road is not metalled.
5- We firstly reached Muzaffarabad via Murree on Public transport in 8 hours (because of Eid there was a traffic jam at Murree. It takes 4 hours to Muzaffarabad from Islamabad if there is no traffic.) Then we hired a Suzuki Bolan from Muzaffarbad upto Athmuqam. If you want to go via Murree you should leave Islamabad early (If you have stay in Islamabad). If you will not stay in Islamabad then you should leave Burewala such that you can cross murree early in the morning.
