I, along with 3 of my colleagues are planning to go on our first bike tour next month from Karachi.
Our plan is to visit Skardu and neighboring areas all the way from Lhr, Isb and so on.
The rides are: Yamaha YBR 125 (2015,2016), Suzuki GS 150 (2016)
So, here are some of my questions that i am looking forward from u guyz to answer.
First check weather condition in these area if feasible to travel on bike next month?
1- What should be a preferred route from Khi (Keeping in mind that Hyd Motorway is in progress and road condition is poor now a days there, Secondly below 500cc bike not allowed on Lhr-Isb Motorway).
=> from Lahore to Islamabad use G. T. Road
2- Any modification needed in our rides ??? (Tyres, Engine cooling sys, Hydraulic Shocks etc ).
=> No modification is required if you already have ride in good condition.
3- Security Conditions through out the travelling route ??
=> Well I can only brief about Lahore onward. You may not be allowed to go beyond Muzafarabad (Kashmir) due to incidents happened recently at border. Though rest of the area (KPK & GB) is quite restful and calm nowadays, but better to have little chitchat with security persons at Checkposts. They are very cooperative especially in GB.
4- What items should we take in travelling Gear ??
=> It depends upon your ride and you. If you intend to stay at Hotels (which is recommended if it is your first experience) then don't need to bother extras just put the cloths, shoes, medicines, brush and paste etc. in bag and kick the beast.
for your rides read threads like this... https://www.pakwheels.com/forums/motorcycle-travel-diaries/274070-necessaries-long-route
5- Precautions for avoiding chalans, tullas ???
=> hahah Tullas (heard after a long time), just ensure CNIC, Driving License and Bikes paper (Rider should be the owner in paper else an Authority letter from owner that you are authorized to use his bike from Karachi to etc. etc.)
6- Any other special advice.
=> Make a travel plan with distance intend to cover on specific date and share with others to check its feasibility and precautions etc.
Wait for response from Pro bikers in this thread. Their tips will really help you to make this tour memorable and successful.
