EGT; What should be the normal ranges of it in aNA engine1. diesel2. petrol3. CNG4. turbo diesel5. turbo petrol6. turbo eng(some one told me that cng generates more heat units then petrol)
what should b the line n how it should be judged that the limit has been reached for the EGT max.
There is no correct egt, because probe type, and placement will vary from car to car and different engines under different stages of tune (and even exhust diameters) will play a massive role in the EGT.
ahan! but , isn't it a parameter of tellling whats happening inside the combustion chamber ? and so givesvaluable information to make changes accordingly?
what is EGT?
EGT= Engine Gas temperature,
should be 900 to 1100 for a turbo engine,
and from 1000 to 1350 for a NA engine,
will be higher in Cng cars, above listed in for petrol engines,
Well on a EGT gauge anything lower then 800 degrees is a safe temp. Above it the engine is running too lean and chnace of detonation and piston melting temps.
EGT is also a good tool to know first hand that if the mixture is running appropriate with % of utilization of the a/f mixture.
@racerf1Thanks alot sir for this valueable information.
