Articleship or the mandatory 'on the job training' (used to be 4yrs at our time now i ve heard its reduced) has to be completed in a firm of Chartered Accountants.. during that period they pay you a nominal stipend!
to become a CA you gotta complete the 20 papers n the 4 yr (or lesser) articles period! your preference for that firm (i 'd strongly suggest) should be one of the following :
EY (local affiliates Ford Rhodes Sidat Hyder)
PWC (A.F.Fergusons)
KPMG (Taseer Hadi)
Deloitte Touche (Anjum Asim??)
in EY your chances for short term international placements during articles, are very high!!
n let me tell u even if u qualify ACCA exams without articles from big 4 CA firm, the fair chances of being able to click a real good job, in comparison with a CA, are lower!! but then who knows you might be a lucky exception if u grab a good opportunity : )
