Dear Dan_Diesel,
I agree with you,
people have a choice, and this is a free country,
they are free to choose how they live their lives and how they want to die,
you are also right about people doing drifts and racing, however I feel that this freedom should not be exercised on a public road, the reason being simply that people who do not wish to die in this manner, or do not choose to live their lives this way should not be exposed to this kind of danger,
if a bike doing a wheelie crashes head on into an average car, they would go straight through the windshield and hurt the occupants of the car,
the biker will probably die, which is sad but its fine, they knew the risks before they performed the wheelie, and suffered the consequences of playing with fire, however, innocent passers-by might loose health, life or limb for no reason,
I often off-road around Phase VIII myself,
its a safe sport, Im not on the public road, and im going very slow,
you might not believe this but over the last 3 months, I have come across, 2 cars which lost control avoiding street racers and ended up going off the road falling into the kacha,
one car was beign raced, lost control, flew off the raised roads, crashed and rolled over,
I was the first person on the scene and the only vehicle at the time able to drive right up to the scene of the accident as I was in a jeep, and it was disturbing to see that the driver had smashed his legs and one arm, and there was a piece of bone jutting out of his leg where he had broken it,
thats all good, he chose the risk,
but there was another car involved, a family, very nice, middle aged uncle and aunty, with a nice, pretty daughter and a young son, their car had been side swipped by the racer, causing it to spin, hit a pole and the poor aunty's face went into the dash causing a pretty bad bleeder and probably a broken nose,
I really am all for motor sport, however, I really feel that if people must indulge in public areas, they should either block off the road or better still, do it in a car park or tracks should be developed where they can do what they please, or atleast they should go further down the road or use one of the inner roads with no development rather than using the main road.
If we just show a little bit of consideration for other people whom we are exposed to during the course of the day, I think we can really progress as a nation.
And it really takes nothing, how hard is it to use an inner road where no jo public hangs out or passes through for racing or motorcycle stunts, its safer for everyone.
