I googled the company you mentioned and here are some facts for you published in “The News” on Tuesday, March 04, 2008:
http://www.thenews.com.pk/daily_detail.asp?id=99590
When you look at this page, you will notice this shocking statement:
"Recently two major gangs involved in this practice of “de-tracking vehicles” were caught by the ACLU. During interrogation, the car robbers revealed that they could defuse the tracking system within five minutes. This has led to more questions being asked by the ACLU about the effectiveness of the system for which customers are paying millions of rupees collectively in special services being offered."
You may also find within the same page this statement about start track:
"There are some tracker companies using Beacon technology which is outdated. One such company, Star Track, was black listed for using outdated technology. Similarly, another company, Win Track, was also blacklisted."
If I were you, I would run a mile from this company and use my money in a wiser way. I honestly believe from your comments " have been using Star Track System for many years and I am completely satisfied with this company" that you have never had to actually USE this company as yet (and may Allah keep us all safe from having to USE their service). You may be paying this company a yearly fee of around 13000rs or so, but that does not mean you have actually had to USE them for the service they actually offer Well, I am glad in a way that you havent had to actually use them anyway which means that you havent had a car stolen (which is a good thing btw)
The GPS tracker devices can not work as soon as the car is covered, taken in an under ground garage or if the GPS antenna is removed or disabled. None of these are impossible or even difficult for professional or dedicated thieves. AND the GPS based trackers can only provide the last location where the GPS stopped working.
In the light of the current news mentioned above, I can think of many other better ways to spend my thousands than paying to start track But I suppose we all have our choices. Having worked in Automotive industry for years, and on various different projects, I think I can safely say that there are many other cheaper and very effective alternative methods to secure your car, than throwing your money in the pockets of Star track (or another tracking company) for the reasons above.
Please do feel free to share your specific experiences (good OR bad) that you have had with your tracker companies, to see how good or bad they are.
