your car was designed for use with gasoline..everything was designed accordingly ...which includes the air intake system,
since you have moved to a less dense fuel, you need less air to burn with in in the same ratio...that is why there is need to block the air in most economy cars..to get the most appropriate mixture...
simply opening up more gas wud not solve the problem...as there are quite a few factors to look for like performance and economy...
so theory is a bit different than practical..removing the block and opening air might cause your vehicle to idle get erratic on idling..or loose performance anywhere in the rpm range..or behave in an unwanted manner...
