i have a 2004 vitz, with the stock stereo system(2 speakers in the dash n 2 in the front doors). always felt the sound from the front speakers did not reach the rear passengers.
so put up 2 speakers in the rear board aswell.here goes.
-two 5.5" speakers (2 speaker covers in my case they were not with the speakers)
-8m speaker wire
-4 speakers clips
-8 screws (according to ur speakers)
-electric tape
step 1: to get started unhook the rear board for easy working.
step2: get a cardboard n place ur speakers upside down in it, trace it out n make a template.
step3: using ur template mark the area on the board u need to cut. If u hav CNG installed make sure the speakers are well away from the cylinder. there should be no contact whatsoever.
step 4: cut out the unwanted area. u can use different tools. i used a drilling machine, n then got rid of the rough edges using a filer(used to file wood). make sure u have a snug fit. if the size is not accurate the speakers will lack the quality.
step 5: now simply fit the speakers in the board. place the blots in place n tighten the nut from beneath. i had my speakers placed on an uneven surface of the board, so to compenstae for the gap i cut out a piece of rubber shaped it into the desired shape n fitted it beneath the speaker(perfect fit).
step 6: now come the wiring. u have 2 options either connect the wire from the back of the head unit or connect them to the front door speakers.
i found it would be much simpler to connect it to the door speakers than to the head unit. lay down the wires in the car in a way they are not visible. i stuffed them under the plastic trim on each side of the car near the carpet.
step7: now this is the dirty bit. lay down on the floor of the front seat, n look directly at the kick board. ull find a bunch of wires here. becarfe with them. on the right side u have to spot out a blue ane green wire. and on the left side spot out a pink and purple wires.(ull find them twisted together).
step 8: carefully remove the cover of the wires using a wire clipper(use a knife of u dont have a clipper). now simple attach ur speaker wires from the rear to these wires. make sure u tape them securely so that the negative n positive wires to not touch together.
ur done. play on!!!
