khan sahib has a small but impressive machine shop with very well-trained and knowledgeable staff. the business looks very modest but i've found it to be the best of its kind in lahore. khan sahib's specializes in suspension work. here's what i like about his business:
1/ owner is on the premises and directs the work himself, and will jump into the work if he feels that the staff isn't moving quickly enough
2/ khan sahib explains the mechanics and principles behind the suspension work to be done and gives you a written estimate (with variations for used parts and for changes in scope as the suspension is opened up and the situation reveals itself)
3/ khan sahib will not ask you to buy any parts from his shop, you are free to go to new parts dealers or bilal gunj or whatever to obtain parts
4/ khan sahib will replace parts only when absolutely necessary; his thrifty soul makes him repair the existing parts, if he is satisfied of the structural integrity of the repaired parts
5/ you'll get a running commentary on what is being done and why as you watch the repairs (just stay away from the lathes, drills, presses and welding equipment, you can get badly hurt by them)
6/ other mechanics around the area send their work to him, get it done from him at wholesale rates and then tack on a surcharge to their customers; why not go to the guy the other mechanics go to?
7/ i once had some new parts break after installation and khan sahib ate the cost of the parts to keep me as a customer; don't try this at other workshops, they'll laugh at you while showing you out the door
all said and done, the buyer should always beware and take responsibility for themselves. i can't guarantee any work done by khan sahib, i can only say that he's been straightforward and forthright with me. his shop is a neat place to go learn about how machine tools are used to repair car parts.

full disclosure: i don't get any financial benefits or favors from khan sahib for referring any business to him. tell him that somebody referred his shop on the internet. he doesn't exactly know what the internet is, only that it is some sort of communication tool. he'll be tickled that someone vouched for him.
