PESHAWAR: Owners of Compressed Natural Gas rickshaws, provided under the President’s Rozgar Scheme, have complained they have been given substandard three-wheelers that are out of order.
Representing the CNG Auto Rickshaw Owners Association, Salim Khan, Wahab Shah, Sajjad Ali, Abdul Khaliq, Muzammil Shah, Abdul Majeed and Sultan Shah told the media that 130 vehicles were provided to poor people of the province under the Rozgar Scheme but almost 100 of them “are now out of order”.
“The substandard vehicles have made the life miserable for us as the rickshaws are parked either in garages or houses but we have to pay their installments,” the drivers expatiated.
They said since the rickshaws were parked permanently after developing faults, their families were facing serious financial problems and many had to stop sending their children to schools not having required money to pay their fees.
“We demand the government look into the matter and do justice. Either we should be provided standard vehicles or duly given compensation,” they clamoured.
