    Default Jdm lancer owners' forum

I have seen Lancer fan club and Mitsubishi fan club on this website which has many pictures and praises but hardcore issues faced by JDM Lancer owners have not been touched. The purpose of forming this forum is to encourage JDM Lancer owners to share their thoughts, issues, views, problems, suggestions and solutions about the cars they own. We can have a meet as well when there is a presentable size available on this thread.

I have had the pleasure of recently buying a 2007 Lancer, imported in Oct 2012 by Itehad Group (Islamabad Mitsubishi Motors I-9) Islamabad. They were offering 3 months warranty for any problem but that raised the price a little bit. The car is exceptionally smooth and comfortable in drive. Its 46000 Kms driven and is in mint condition. Smells like new.

First problem I faced was getting the multi media system started. One thing I knew the SAT-NAV would never work in Pakistan and similarly the TV has PAL/SECAM issue and won't work. I wanted to CD/DVD play on the LCD and also phone blue-tooth, USB and reverse camera. I was told that both things could not work together. If the vehicle's software, which showed fuel consumption and temperature was to be utilized, reverse camera and DVD would not play and vice versa.

One electrician at F-10 Markaz tried to install a convertor switch which resulted in short circuiting of the IC. Now the LCD is out of order. Trying to get a new LCD from Chah Sultan.

In the meanwhile I got installed a Pioneer MP3 player (4450BT) which has USB slot and Bluetooth. Got my phone connected with it. The speaker system is out of this world. Superb sound from 4 speakers.

I have also removed the electronic Toll Collection box.

I have got the software CD/DVD but for now its useless for me.

Second issue is getting the English Version of the owner's manual and multi communication system or getting them translated in English. I have been told that NUML has a department of Japanese Language and some enthusiast student would do this job, of course with some monetary incentive. Will take up this project in January after my bank's closing in December.

I have had the wheel balancing and alignment done. The Hongkong Wheels wala was saying that although the tires were good but they were "barfani" tires. Perhaps he meant tires made for snow drive. In a way he was right as these tires make more than usual noise. Will get them replaced in summers.

There is no RPM Meter. I enquired about an OEM optitron meter for Rs. 4500 at Chah Sultan Pindi and will get it next week. Similarly there is no clock, inside/outside temperature gauge and fog lights. Incidentally the space for fog lights is different from 2006 Dewan Group imported Lancers. Therefore the exact size match needs to be checked before buying.

I bought the Mitsu Lancer Wagon 2007....
    Lancer Wagon.. A/T Transmission
    1500 cc
    4G15 Engine
    Fuel Average
12/13 km/ltr in city with AC
    17 km/ltr (during my KHI-ISB trip)
Interior is same as the Lancer 2005 - 2008 sedan.

With registration it cost me 9.5 Lac.
In this price there is no match to the comfort and pleasure drive.

I agree about comfort. There are two versions in this wagon.

Mitsubishi lancer is for peace loving people, not for XLi'iers.
And welcome to the JDM gang. Lancer is a Gem to own and never expect someone to say some good words for your lancers. They all are after Re-re-re-re-born.
    Respect comes from fear.

Some updates....The LCD screen has started working after I got the software DVD from a source. However my electrician was trying to put in a conversion kit/relay so that both software and Bluetooth/DVD/reverse camera could be used at at time. This could not be done therefore a separate MP3 player has been installed with Bluetooth and USB port. Original drive of lancer has gone under the passenger seat after extending the wire.

The second project is Fog lights. It was a surprise that Dewan Imported Lancers and JDM Lancers have different sized Foglight console. I am now looking for them at Sultan da khoo and Saddar or Peshawar. Amazon has got them. Might get them from there but they are not yellow.

Third project is getting the owners manual and communications manual translated in English. I shall be visiting Japanese language department of NUML next week and try to get some help from the students there. Will get the main portions translated and will give a Khaadi gift voucher to the translator...
