In common with many other mid- or rear-engined vehicles its fifteen-inch wheels have uneven-sized tires, 145/65 on the fronts and wider 175/55 on the rears, in an effort to minimise the chances of oversteer caused by the rear-biased weight distribution.

    3.7 L (no filter replacement)
    3.9 L (Oil filter replacement)

Five types Of Oil Recommended :

    a) Fuel economy and long drain(Life) SAE 5W- 20
    b) For Quietness and fuel efficiency (balance) SAE 5W- 30
    c) Driving (intensive) and more quiet oriented SAE 5W- 40
    d) Quiet operation, (motor sports) SAE 10W- 40
    e) Exhaling smoke, engine noise SAE 20W- 50

= I would personally recommend Shell Helix Ultra 5w40 (4L) for it's the highest synthetic grade oil being imported and much of the car's aggressive (Turbo/I) nature requires an intensive oil which may withstand variations wrt temperature and Oil pressure =>

    Automatic Transmission Fluid, ATF

    This one's tricky

To figure out which ATF is recommended for Mitsubishi i, I requested my relative abroad who in turn consulted Mitsubishi Motor 5S.

" Dear Uncle, I will be needing your assistance regarding the type of ATF being used in Mitsubishi i AT_660cc (Chassis #HA1W-0030XXX) . I haven't been able to locate the Auto-Transmission Oil type on engine bay or body and owner manual itself doesn't state details, Probably because Mitsubishi motors prefers its customers to get maintenance/ service warranty charged at their service outlets."To which he pleasantly replied that he is going to enquire about.

    "Dear AWV

Most dealers are unfamiliar with the ATF type for 'mitsubishi i', except Mitsubishi Dealers/Service Shops themselves. About only 300 units have been sold in UK as its been manufactured in Japan and imported to UK.

    Recommended ATF :

    - DIAQUEEN ATF SP3 (MITSUBISHI OWN MAKE) Not sold

    - DEXRON III HALFORDS

    - TRIPLE QX ATF D III EUROPARTS "

Honestly, never heard of those before

Concluding that Mitsubishi Motors are quite sticky when it comes to their annual warranty plans and services.

Some details regarding the three ATF's that I was able to google ^_^

    i ) DIAQUEEN ATF SP3

    ii) DEXRON III - HALFORDS

The Halfords Automatic Transmission & Power Steering Fluid DIII meets the requirements of General Motors GM-6417M. It is formulated and manufactured to meet the performance and protection of leading brands.

iii) TRIPLE QX ATF DIII EUROPARTS

Mitsubishi i 660c Intercooler Turbo Info Maintenance Spares -1137471

All credits to a generous Uncle, who on a last minute request found an authentic source and also got me Fire blade Fuses (which are rare to get around here) =)

This was quite an entertaining thread! I acquired this car recently too, it is perfect in all areas except one, fuel economy! Averaging about 10 km/l max with A/C. Did all your maintenance work make it better?

Glad to receive your query. Yes, it went up to around 15-16 km/L with AC. You should replace your mitsubishi's Air filter and spark plugs at the earliest. You will notice a remarkable increase in the whizzing sound of the turbo; more boost and effectively increasing the volumetric efficiency of the engine.
Here's an unconventional tip, drive fast. It's a three cylinder hatch, that means the idle rpm's are set high. To save on fuel you should be quick and with as less braking as possible. Don't hesitate to rev up cos the compression design of its mivec engine is tuned to facilitate turbo and when its not in play its lagging. Less air, less power while fuel is being wasted to just have the engine running
    best of luck

Yup. I believe the same to be honest. Going super light on the gas isn't as helpful as people are led to believe. Avoiding stop and go, and revving it up to speed and keeping it there, coasting to a halt, those are the real deals. However, this thing drives like a super-mini! I am very impressed with it so far. Kinda hard to resist throttling. It has tonnes of power, and I have no idea where it's coming from! I suppose the turbo and intercooler are currently at their prime. I've only managed to change engine oil for now. The rest of the little tidbits, air filter, plugs, transmission oil and diff oil, they're next. I managed 10.5 km/l last round of fill up, with a mix of throttling (about 30%) and feathering the throttle (70%) in the city.

    Here's hoping to improve this!
