Default Mitsubishi I 660 cc mileage and RPM problem

    AoA,
I have mitsubish I 660 autmotic, petrol. however its giving me low mileage of 11-12 per litre. I have checked the air filter, oil filter, done tuning etc. but its average has not improved. One possible reason which I can think of, is the high RPM. Normally during idle mode RPM is 900-1000. however while driving it stays around 3000. Can anyone tell me how to improve the mileage and how can I get the RPM problem solved.
    Thanks alot

Go to Javed Denso on Waris Rd... its on the opposite side of Honda Fort! The guy is really good with JDM 660cc's...

But to tell you, if you've done all the basic things like air filter change, oil filter change, tuning etc.. just get the throttle body cleaned if you haven't!!

And the ideal rpm is fine.. its 900-1000rpm on idle... and during driving it varies from 2000-4000rpm usually depending on driving style andthat seems fine to me!!!

thanks. the problem is for example if the car is running at the speed of 60km (static) then the RPM is also static at 3000. if i put slight pressure on paddle, speed and RPM both will increase. however if i take the foot off the paddle then speed and RPM both will decrease at once. and RPM reaches as low as 1000 only.

This does not look like a problem to me. Its normal as long as it doesnt stall and picks up speed again.

but fuel average is not that good. it should be better specially without AC. Another thing is for sure that the pick of my car is exceptionally good. however I am still light on the paddle, yet the average is bad.

as suggested by a fellow member get the throttle body cleaned and better if you can get it to dealer... 3s or something... mileage will be 13-15 if all the tunings have been done properly. We cannot get the one advertised due to petrol quality plus road quality and driving habits.. best of luck

removing catalytic convertor might help with fuel mileage, but do it only if it is blocked. Other then that, 11-12 in city is not bad, because these engines have tow ork hard to attain same speeds. MOre effort means more petrol. Also, fuel quality, adulteration and quantity issues give you misleading averages.

    EXACTLY!!!

Anyone who's mamu, chachu, taya, friend, negihbour, xyz claims to get 17-18Km/L either gets his car towed or drives in highest gear at 20Km/hr @ 1000rpm or so... anyway the point im trying to make is that don't expect any good mileage from these JDM econo boxes!!

The Manual tranny JDM 660 cc's might give around 15km/litre... but 19km/litre in city?? Seriously come on!!

These cars only do around 11-13Km/Litre if auto tranny and around 12-15Km/litre if Manual tranny... As these have small 660cc powerhouses who have to pull a big body on them aswell as driver+passengers weight! Passenger weight +big body -> Require more power to pull -> Requires more throttle to be floored -> requires more fuel -> which means less economy!

Btw whoever claims 18-19Km/L needs to prove himself.. as i don't believe in these uri urai hui figures with no proofs!!

And as for the poster's so called problem... I think everything's fine!

PS. A tip for all 660cc owners: When starting from a stand still try to accelerate gently till 40-60Km/hr, don't throttle hard at this time.. you'll save a lot of fuel here!
