Default Engine oil for Lancer 1990

I bought mitsubishi Lancer 1990 model.
I know its kinda old car, but as I've driven Mehran before, hence now I feel pretty luxury with it. lol.

I checked the engine oil with dip stick and its pretty much thick and burnt black color. Though there is no smoke from silencer, but I guess its time to change it now.
Experts plz suggest the best engine oil for it.

    Shukria.

the oil cleans itself as it gets hot.

your engine would be pretty happy with something like 10W40 or even 10W30 - hard to get, your engine is also not an emmissions engine, simply use a fleet oil like caltex delo gold diesel 15w40 in it.

It will also clean it better than a team of mechanics scrubbing it.

    Thank you brother.

But I feel myself more attracted to choose

    Liqui Moly Super Leichtlauf 10W-40
Its API SL Grade. ACEA A3/B4 rating.
Price is Rs. 3000/4L and its available at Liqui Moly shop at Muslim Town.

    Change interval 5~6 thousands kilometers.

A friend of mine using liquid moly oils for 3~4 years and pretty much satisfied. He said these are little expensive but quality is simply unmatchable. These oils doesn't breakout even in the extreme conditions. While Caltex, Toyota, Honda oils do.

I've observed and confirmed by last owner that engine doesn't reduce this oil.
so its better to choose imported one and change it after 6000 km rather choosing local oil and changing it after 3000

I changed out the oil in my Cuore at 8500kms - could still go on for longer, but I have never seen such mileage on any of my oils.

This was the Liqui Moly 10W-40 MOS2. Use a good oil filter (good is relative - genuine costs PKR 150 at the Toyota dealerships; LePpon if you can find genuine one, costs about PKR 450-500)

Get your oils from authorized distributor only, which is NOT Muslim Town, and NOT Filter House.

yes. I've also heard that in old petrol cars, the diesel engine oils do well. But never experienced in reality yet.

the only advantage of using diesel engine oil is it will clean the engine from inside as diesel engine oil are made to absorb more carbon than petrol engine oil

in previous posts I've read that Synthetic oils do this cleaning job also. right?
but the old cars which are running on mineral oils since years, ... if we will pour synthetic oil in them, it will bring no good results for them and also the leakage can happen through engine seals.

But your answer is perfect. that "diesel engine oil it will clean the engine from inside as diesel engine oil are made to absorb more carbon than petrol engine oil" and it totally makes sense.

Diesel oils have very strong ingredients and additives which scrub the engine so all bad stuff comes out, if you see a diesel car owner he pours new fresh oil and after 40-50km oil turns jet black that is because of oil it clears up everything and when it is being used on proper operating temperature ( car with t stat) then oil cleans up it self because at a certain temperature oil cleans up itself. Use Delo Gold with OE filter or Guard filter and drain at 3-4 thousand km.

Why use a synthetic oil in an engine that is pretty OK with oldschool mineral stuff.
