Default Mitsubishi Vs. Nissan Sunny - Which one to buy ?

    Hello guys,

I am planning to buy a JDM car and don't want to go for locals e.g. city, civic & corolla. I wanted to buy Mark 2 but due to short budget. Now I'm thinking between Lancer and Sunny. Need your suggestions and expert opinions regarding this. my current budget is 8-9.

    My concerns are:

    1. Acceleration (Pick-up)
    2. Road Grip, Handling, Comfort
    3. Reliable
    4. Parts availability ?

I don't have problem regarding expensive parts (I can afford) neither resale issue as well.

    Regards

JDM Mitsubishi Lancer all the way. Awesome driving comfort and quality. If you find estate version thats good too. Parts are available.

Bro estate version also called as station wagon lancer. It looks amazing aswell. Well mitsubishi cars are way ahead in quality/comfort/drive than any honda/toyota .Interior looks classy Specially JDM lancer. Yes resale is a bit issue but it wont be a problem if you are not concenred about resale. And for parts i will advise you to visit parts market and ask for random parts of lancer at different places. You will be sure about the parts availability then.

Guys, could you please tell me about lancer's acceleration ? where it would stand if we bring it in front of new corolla and Honda city/civic ?
    Also, share its fuel consumption.

    Regards

Had little experience of both lancer and sunny (own by my relatives while lancer is sold now)....to me difference between comfort and engine performance is not much but lance has more beautiful exterior and interior then sunny so my vote is also for Lancer.

Don't compare it with Hondas as they have high revving VTEC sporty engines - Lancer's engine is more of a hauler than a sheer horsepower one. The 1.3 is powered by the 4G13 which makes around 90 horsepower (which is higher than 1.3 Corollas and the iDSI City) and the 1.6 is powered by the 4G18 which makes around 105 horsepower, which is the lowest in its category. Its also heavier than its comparative engined PKDM counterparts. However, if you buy a 1.6 auto, then you get the CVT transmission and peak torque arrives at about 2800 RPM (compared to around 4500 RPM for the 1.6 manual) so its pretty responsive.

I've kept a 1.3 auto and a 1.6 manual. Both great experiences, but both ended sadly.

Nissan parts are mostly available but mitsubishi can be pita. Lancer and Sunny both are better cars than corolla and civic.

Having both of them since 2005. Both have their pros and cons. But better than local brands.

No experience of Nissan but have driven 1.3 lancer on motorway at 180 km/h and car was stable like moving on a butter. It felt that car speed is 120. Parts are a big problem for lancer. Comfort wise lancer beats corolla and civics.

Parts can be arranged on demand. You just name it.
