    Default Help Required, Problem in my new Lancer 1.6

    Acha so here is the story, we are coming from Islamabad nothing wrong with the car and i was not pushing the car or anything. As I took a car and downshifted, then the car wouldn't rev up over 3K, so put my car into neutral and pushed the accelerator and still the car wouldn't rev over 3k. So my driver said lets go home in under 3K revs and then we will fix the car.

    Acha as we were going about 400meters later the car just stalled. The car wouldn't start again either by pushing, checked all of the spark plugs and everything still the car wouldn't start up.

    Then we called the Showroom, they said to check the fuel mixture that there maybe some "****" in the fuel supply. We didn’t drain the fuel tank; we just added another 10 liters of petrol in it. Still the car wouldn’t start.

    Hopefully the car will be fixed by the showroom guys by tomorrow, but can anyone tell me what the problem may be?? And should I ask for another car if the car is in the workshop for a couple of days?? As in a replacement??

    Hopefully I got my point across.

    if its a decent dealership who cares for its customers....they should give you a replacement car. sometimes insurance policies also cover such service (always an option here in canada and US)

    now the car...let me get one point straight...

    your car was running..meaning..the motor was on and working but the engine was not revving beyond 3K rpm....then while you were driving..it just turned off all by itself and did not start afterwards? can u confirm this...?

    also..when you are turning the key..can you hear the alternator cranking? is there any response? does the battery or oil light come up? is the car throwing a code?

    @szuberi

    Thanks for your reply.

    Yes when the car wasn't revving over 3K, we thought we will sort of like go in that condition home, bu tthe car just stalled about 400meters laters and it wouldnt start.

    can you hear the alternator cranking? is there any response? does the battery or oil light come up?

    Yes the alternator does crank up and the engine does give out the "noise" when you normally would start up. The battery light and the oil light everything comes up on the console thingy.

    is the car throwing a code?

    I didnt get what you meant by this.

    ok..now i get it...that was what i meant.

    there can be a number of reasons for this....one of which can be the fuel supply. my guess is that it may have been leaking or clogged....starting from the pump, lines, filter, rail, injectors etc.

    it may very well be your mass airflow sensor and / or your crank sensor...i would guess for the mass airflow sensor...these sometimes get corrosion in the connector or just produce a weak signal when hot (usually allows the engine to restart after cooling down)

    take it to the dealer...he will attach a code reader into your ECU...and will confirm the code the car is throwing...then he will look it up into the car's workshop manual to see the exact problem.

    good luck.

    that entirely depends on the dealer or the mechanic....should not take more than a day or two in most cases.

    i must ask...how many KMs on the motor and when was the last time you had your tuning done? tuning=plugs, cap, rotor, pcv etc...it can be a bad distributor..

    and also...check your grounds if they are all intact. can be your starter also?????

    if the alternator is cranking...this means the battery is good since the alternator needs to current to turn...then you need fuel and spark and air for the motor to start.....fuel supply i already mentioned (can u smell petrol by the way anywhere?)....bad or no spark will be covered during a tuning check...and the air flow is the rest.

    narrowed down now i guess...lol

    the Diagnosis seems right.

    problems could be

    Fuel starvation due to Fuel Filter, Fuel pump failure
    Cannot be injector coz one would be choked and it would have rough idle

    ECU problem

    Electrical current supply not there to the spark generators.

    but it mostly seems like a Fuel filter problem, then anything else.

    Whatever the problem, remember your car should be under warranty. So try not to get sucked into paying any money to have this repaired!
    Its not your fault this has happened. If its a Mitsu. fault, let them fix it.
    Otherwise as tsah15 said, dont waste time, contact Dewan directly.

    @All

    Thanks for your reply's.

    @ Racerf1

    Some of the mechanics present there also suggested that there maybe a problem in the fuel filter.

    @kaloo28

    I am not paying for anything on this job.

    @grafiti

    No you shouldn't be, this is the first time either on this forum or in real life(that i know of) has anyone reported a problem with the new Lancer.

    @All

    Just wanted to say the car was fixed today, sent the driver to the workshop, he brought two of the mechanics with him to our in Pindi. They worked there for two hours and started the car and took it to the workshop. There they did some work with the ECU and som ewiring which they said were "fused" or something(I wasn't there so i don't know exactly) they fixed it none the less. And also did CNG setting, now the car feels more responsive on CNG than before. So overall I am quite happy

    BTW another thanks for everyone who replied here.

    the showroom ppl are offering to fit the CNG for 38000, but EFI kit is installed for 34000 from many other places around. did u get the 1.6 GV or got the CNG kit in it later? in both the cases, can u plz guide me to some gud and reliable CNG fitting guys in pindi or islamabad? i m just being apprehensive cause there are SO many ppl doin this job that its difficult to trust somoene around.

    secondly, i m planing to get the 14" rims on the same very day i get the delivery. any recommended place for it ? i had a visit near kamran market shops in pindi, but wud still appreciate if i can find more variety.
