probably yr car 's engine is running slight rich for first few 100 km, before first tuneup,

-also in winter the choke keeps engine idling quite high.. when you drive less than keep yr car started,, you waste fuel but dont add in km driven ,, so av/km comes down.

couple of days back if my 1.6l car gave 10km on long run, so yr s on local drive giving 7 km seems ok to me.

local drive defined as going around in low gears, stop and go, on red lights,, stuck in traffic,,going slow behind cyclists/scooters/rickshaws etc.

It looks bad to me. I have 1.8 civic and its giving me around 10-12 km/liter in City. Your's is 1.6 , it should be better than mine.

It all gets down to your driving style @ the end. If you are an aggressive driver and do push ur car in each gear, then the given mileage of 7km/litre is ok.

But if you drive smoothly and keep the rpm under 3k @ all times, then I suppose your car is running richer and you need to get your car tuned. But dont worry its not a serious problem just a tuning would set it right.

i have never drived over 2500 rpm yet and i am extra carefull about that because the engine is brand new only 300 km done.
i hope this low milage is because of the new engine and it will get better after 1000 km tuning but i have drive these 1000 km at high cost
except the milage every thing is superb about the car
as smooth as any thing ,much better than crolla and civic in comfort and interior quality( i can say that because my brother drives civic and my sister drives corolla)
