    Default Conversion Lancer - Evo

    I own a 2005 model lancer 1300cc(auto), usually used by my driver to pick/drop my kid from school and etc.

    since the last few weeks, its transmission was giving some problem so i sent the car to mitsubishi ppl and they said that u have to get changed its wall body (transmission part) and it will cost around 75k.

    i was just thinking to sell this car and in my opinion i will not get more than 600k to 700k for this car in the current condition. someone gave me a crazy idea to experiment on this car.

    masha Allah this forum seems to be full of experienced and innovative ppl. how about i install a mitsubishi evo engine in my car, change the transmission, suspension and the braking system.

    any idea brothers, who can help me with this type of experiment and what can be the estimated cost of doing this.

    and if you want to change the outlooks of the car like bumpers/spoilers etc i have it for sale

    i think till engine it will be fine and easy but will you talk about brakes and other stuff then i say i will cost more and lots of headache so i wold reccomend that sell off this ride and get and evo what abould be cheaper

    and if you have put every thing in you lancer of an evo you will spend alot of money and on the other hand you car will now handle like a evo it self

    for bodywork its easy but engine wise ...(N)
    Evo is 4 wheel engine chassis ..lots of things matter ...
    better to get Evo in 16 17 lacks...

    converting to EVO means u wd be converting a FWD vehicle to AWD... n dat wd be involving a lot of work on chassis etc...
    i wd suggest not to ruin ur car ... as there ll be only a couple of ppl here in pakistan to do this kind of stuff professionally...
    if u r worried abt the transmission only... then try finding a kabli one... i guess u wd be able to find one below 15k... i dont know abt CVT (the one in ur car) but u can get kabli INVECII transmission for like 10k

    otherwise if u are seriously looking for some power.. then try putting in 4G63 DOHC (2.0L) with FWD setup (i m also considering this swap)...

    still if u interested in evolutionizing ur lancer...

    number one, the current lancer evo is based on another japanese domestic car called the Cedia, and not the lancer.. so therein is some problem for u..

    the engine, gearbox, transfer box are easy, but the 4 wheel drive system has yaw sensors and pitch and roll sensors and speed sensors and acceleration meters and soo many other electrics,

    it would be better for u to fit a 4g63 engine and drive it front wheel drive instead of 4 wheel drive..

    can u please elaborate more on the 4g63 engine. like which car of mitsubishi has this engine, how much HP can it produce and availability of quality engines

    and one more thing, will my current suspension, braking or transmission system will support the engine or not.

    4G63 is one of best engines i mitsubishi as per my knowledge ... the DOHC (non turbo) version has a lot of potential and makes like 130 HP but if a lil modded can pull more than 150 i guess..

    ur current suspension and braking system wd not work... ur best bet would be to buy a complete front cut... including engine transmission, suspension etc...

    these engines came in newer gallants n in EVOs... there is a turbo version of the same as well..
    but even the non turbo ll give a great pull on small body lancer...

    i m planning to visit peshawar next week end to get an idea abt mitsubishi engines i m considering for swap myself (4G15, 4G92 and 4G63) ...
    wd be happy to share the information with u...

    Dude....This is a VERY tough ask...

    Like someone said already, EVOs are AWD with a lot of electrics..So thts something you really have to look out for...

    Even if you can get everything done after a lot of headaches, there is still one unachievable target. Chassis stiffness and rigidity. With all that power you will really need it, and I cant think of how you will achieve this.

    A better idea would be to sell off your car for 600K, invest about 12-13 lacs more, and buy a REAL Evo that would perform MUCH better, and wud be 10 times more reliable!


    BTW...Lots of different variations (FWD/4WD/DOHC/SOHC/NA/FI..etc) of 4G63 have been sold in MANY Mitsus over the years. Lancers/Galants/L200s/Eclipses/EVOs..etc
    RX-7? An RX-7? Really? I hope you know it's just a sports car with a washing machine under the hood.

    to do a swap of this complexicity wod be a useless headache and u wont be 100% sure that wod it turn out great or not,so rather than investing 200-300k on this swap u shod rather save money up and get the real thing,u wont regret it,i say sale ur car for now and get any vitz or some family hatch,and later on save up and get what u want

    i have chkhed over the net regarding 4g63 and 4g69 (2.4l). North american version lancers come with tht. It also said tht they have invecII transmission in them, which transmission does the local 1.3l lancer have? I thinks its invecII in 1.3 version and invecIII in 1.6 versions

    i own lancer 1.6 n i ve done this research bout it before.........best engine u can fit is 4G92 dohc mivec 170hp or n/a 4G63 130hp then add on turbo kit later.....awd setup is tough to do n too much fabrication.....but i ll say if u want awd car then save money for Evo.......u can turbo ur stock engine but it's auto so no point to do tht
    My lugnuts require more torque than your Vtec can put out...

    I guess you did not understand what i said..

    Drop the term 'EVOLUTIONISING' your Lancer. You CANNOT do that.
    Because...You will need to change everything from ground up, and i havent seen that before. Swapping the engine is not a pain in the *** when you look at the other things you will have to do to turn this into a proper EVO!

    What you can do is just modify it into a better/more powerful car. Get a 4G92 Mivec like salik bhai said above. One hell of an engine. Moreover, your Lancer would actually be able to bear the thing under the hood, and at the wheels.

    gem_guy is very much right here..you can get the outlook easily..but the real EVO fun..is near impossible..atleast in pak..

    u want the looks or looks with power?
    Lancer Evo has AWD, brembo brakes, 4G63 Turbocharged engine and many other goodies so its not easy to do what u want.
    If u want the looks then you can replace the bumpers and the REAL conversion will be of front headlights ...
    If u also want the power den the engine suggested above by gem_guy is perfect for ur car ...
