    Default 4G93 Swap (Lancer)

    Hi All,

    I own a CK lancer 97 with 4G13... the thing doesnt run good.. so i am planning a swap.... the most easily available option is 4G15 DOHC but i doubt abt its performance with auto tranny...

    Now I am getting a 4G93 SOHC with tranny for a CK but the issue is that it doesnt have a engine brain (ECU) with it (TCU is there)... the person is saying that he ll take off the throtle body and fit in a carb instead from an old 4G93 (left side engine)... as per him that is his responsibility and it wd fit alright right with the engine block....
    wat do u guys suggest... n wd there be any affect on engine output... i m chosing 4G93 instead of 4G15 DOHC just for power...

    n pls i doubt but is there any possibility of using some other ECU may be from some other engine like 4G15 SOHCor something

    @ its me . . Will you please give me some detail about your deal. I mean from where you bought engine and what have you paid. As i am also a 4G13 user since 1999 and thats on cng. will be happy if i swap a 1500 cc engine for better output on cng.

    @omermumtaz
    i bought it from rwp bao muhala... the person name is mushtaq... n he is more like the only mistu big kabli parts dealer here... i paid 25k + my old engine + tranny for engine + tranny... rest is the labour, elec charges and fuel pump etc...
    experience is good so far... considerable difference from 4G13 n that too a carb...
    still keeping an eye on the engine oil level... pick is pretty peppy now... its runs good ... i m pretty much satisfied... rev limiter at 7k ... goes good above 6k ...

    @spectra
    saqib bhai.. inshaAllah ll visit soon... just have to clean the engine bay a bit n get brakes adjusted...
    just making sure that engine all good... Alahamadulilah faced no probs so far...

    Hi, i swapped a 4g93 carby in my 91 galant 2 years ago n its still working great. I wanted to ask that are you sure there are no 4g63t available in peshawar? im planning to do a 4g63t swap in june. Also, have u seen or heard of any 1991-2 galant vr4 ( awd 4g63t ) in punjab or peshawar side?

    @mostwanted: my friend have vr4 galant engine for his mitsubishi colt or 99 galant model......he imported himself

    My lugnuts require more torque than your Vtec can put out...

    u might be lucky to find one for 91 galant... as it has engine on pessenger side... but still it wd be a diffcult find... n do check the engine code on block itself... as these kabli parts dealers dont know much n make a 1.8L 4G63...

    from 96-97 onwards the engine got 180 degree change i.e. engine on driver side... finding these newer engines in pakistan is almost impossible... n they are expensive as well...

    @salik 990 : i guess ur talking about salahuddin. He's also a friend of mine, i've seen his 4g63t silver top and his recently imported vr4 red top with complete stuff.

    @its_me : yes sir i know the about the gearbox being on the different side, im looking for the old 4g63t which came in galant vr4 and evo I-III, the gear box in it is at the same side as my galant. I was hoping that some one might have a galant vr4 in punjab as galants are more common there then in karachi. How is ur lancer performing now?

    going good... conserable difference from 4G13 even with auto...
    in the start i was also looking for 4G63 n then 4G93 but ended up with 4G15...
    only 4G93 easily availble are GDI for my model... rest dont have ECU with them...
    good luck with your search... i think it would be a great swap... i assume ur galant is FWD even NA 4G63 wd do the trick...
    do think about the gear box issue as i guess most 4G63 T or NA wd be AWD...

    @its_me : what mileage are you getting so far? Yes the gearbox, u can actually mate most of the mitsubishi tranny's with a 4g63t, salahuddin was running a 4g13 tranny i guess in his colt on the silver top, but it wasnt reliable the engine was too powerful for it. If i swap the 4g63t i wud be using my 4g93's tranny, its pretty bulky and i think it can hold the power. Btw clean car MashAllah, dont see many lancers and galants in good condition these days.

    thanks for the appreciation..
    havnt checked the mileage... as checking the engine so far.. n also i m reving a bit more so mileage wd be low...
    u r right... 93 s tranny might work... another option is to lock the rear differential and use the gear as FWD only.. but i wonder which one is more reliable... in any case handling all the power which is supposed to be on 4 wheels on just 2 wheels wd be a little tricky... n in case of 4G63T it wd be a lot of power..
    there are some discussions on the issue in some other forums... i ll try finding them and fwd to u...
