    Default Meri Lancer naraaz ho gai hai?

    I have an 05 1.6 CVT lancer and it usually gets driven once or twice a week. Just 10mins back i took it to margalla road to test if it still GOT DA JUICE in it so, i floored the gas pedal and the car kept going and going uptill ~150kmph at that point the car was almost at the red line (as i was going slightly uphill) suddenly the check engine light turned on for a second and the car accelerated to 160 like a buggati. I panicked and pulled over to the shoulder, opened the hood and smelled the engine..and it smelt good :-P so i got back in, put the car to D and started driving..i noticed that the car wasnt going over 2000rpm but the power kept increasing like hell (the car got to 120 at 2000 rpm in a jiffy) i tried shifting to Ds but there was no visual or audible change in the engine speed or power...i was like what the..? then i shifted to L and....still it was acting like its on D. What could have possibly happened to the car? i mean, is my car feeling drowsy at this time of night or is it that its simply telling me "LAY OFF U FAT @SS F@GGOT!"?? Right now its working ok but why did it throw that slap on my face when i demanded power from it??

    BTW: the car was running on pertol

    car ka computer pagal hogia hoga...saying itna zulm na kero..lol

    had that OBD gadget myself for a long time but never got to use it. now that i gave it to someone else, i am a sitting duck ready to get a false bill worth 50,000 from the dealer :-(

    The CVT kept the ratio long (as if you were in 5th gear) and was probably in the last position, thereby explaining the 2000rpm thing. As far as the acceleration goes, the Lancer still GOT DA JUICE!

    CEL probably came on because the ECU may have detected the engine to be hotter than expected, but since it didn't blow you're probably fine!

    The gear thing is odd... did you have an opportunity to check it when you came back down?

    A little search on the net turned up that there usually happens to be a "FAIL SAFE" regime or "LIMP MODE" stored on a car's ECU (well, not all cars have it) so, whenever an ECU feels that ure about to spend thousands on ur car, the ECU turns over to that fail safe regime and tells the driver HUN DUS MAMA, KINNI KI NASSAEY GA GADDI? and locks the rpm to 2k or in some cars, 3k. Auto trannies suffer more as the shift gets limited to only P,R,N and D no lower range or retarded shift i.e Ds.

    I now reckon that my car had a Fuel Filter change pending...

    Considering the car's 'imported' it would probably have it. It's the 'safety get you home' mode Jeremy Clarkson was talking about in the Diesel Jag on the Nurburgring episode (god I watch a lot of top gear...)

    Come to think of it, my car even has it. Because I remember before I... err... blew my engine, the power cut down. Of course I wasn't as lucky as you and I didn't get to travel more than 50 yards in the safety get you home mode. I was a good 5 miles away from home...

    so its the same thing..which lock yr rpm and some time speed...as few months back my friend tried to remove his mercedes top...which was convertable while driving.....it got stuck in the middle and just cuz of that the car got lock on 20km/h speed.....

    we drove from super to f-11 at that speed

    Hmmm..nice
    remainds me of a collegue story here in my company.He doens't had any/very little work from his boss the whole month but at the month end his boss gave him loads of work so much so that he had to stay in office for the whoel weekend,and on Monday he got sick and took leave for 2 days...,u got the similarity between ur story and mine??
